The group is weak. Huge Edberg fan here... how about some re-issue polos, tshirts, track jacket that he actually wore? He had some good stuff that he wore and this is an Edberg group? Better than nothing, but not much better....

Jacket has no relevance to Edberg. Shoes are dumbed down, cushioning isn't the same, hard as a rock.... the circle in the heel used to functional, I think it was called soft cell, it isn't anymore.... disappointing. @adidas, call me, I can help you.

Not TW's fault, it is on adidas. Check out T Express, trying to sell basic adidas apparel as "Edberg" apparel. Holy misrepresentation

I'm actually wearing a pair of leather Barricades (the Mustachios) as I type this, but I wouldn't want to play in them - way too hot. But they are far more comfortable than the regular Barricades.

It would be wrong form a philosophical perspective and extremely difficult and expensive from a technical point of view to provide the original technology for a limited run of shoes. It is a balancing act between trying to satisfy some extremely small audience and reasonable approach.

The jacket (at least the yellow one I have seen) is not what Edberg was wearing, but it isn't the worst option what to market: Adidas track jackets used to be extremely simple, and the colour picks up a colour from the shoes and is a typical retro colour.

Unless they decide to come up with the exact same range that SE wore (I am not sure how relevant most of it would look anyway), it is a decent effort.

Why wouldn't they be? Are they not more-or-less a reissue of the original? If they were a game day shoe when they came out, why wouldn't they work now?

I've played wearing Adidas Stan Smith reissues and the basketball-based Superstars recently, with no issues whatsoever. They may not be as gee-whiz high tech, but they still work--for me, at least--for their intended, designed purpose. And even the Superstar, a basketball shoe, still worked for tennis.

The human body hasn't changed that much over the decades...ditto for the game itself. Granted, we're not as young as we used to be, but still...

Besides, how many people still use 30+ year old racquets at the pro and amateur / weekend warrior levels? PT57A, Prestige Classic, etc anyone?

@dje31 good for you! I had a pair of Stan Smith's as well. In my case, I've gotten older, so have my knees, and the old shoes just don't provide the shock absorption the news ones do. I liked old shoes because the soles wore out before the inners did. And, truth be told, I'd be happy as a pig in mud if someone said the new adidas shoes were up to snuff. Until then, the Diadora's I'm wearing are the best shoes I've had in a long time. After about 50 years on hardcourts, my legs need all the help they can get!

Point made, Rabbit...not casting aspersions, as we're of a similar age, I'd guess, and Aleve has become the drug of choice for me.

The times I used Stans or Superstars was out of convenience, as I didn't have my normal tennis shoes---Barricade 7 and Uber 2---on-hand, so I used what I had on me...but I didn't feel hampered or hindered with my game, such as it is. Was pleasantly surprised how well they actually did for me, decades later.

It would be an interesting test, albeit your wallet being a C-note lighter, to compare how the Edberg reissues worked relative to your Diadoras.

I'd love if Adidas would reissue some of the Lendl shoes, which I used back in the day. If they do, I'll give a comparo to my modern options.

I would love it as well. I just fear that as much as I love the 1970s Plymouth Barracuda, I'd tire of driving a 1970's car after driving my GS350 :)

And you know you're talking me into dropping $100 :cool:
