I know those books are beloved, but I never could get into the old expanded universe. Always felt, for lack of a better term, too unrealistic. Ironically, that's how I've felt about Eps 8 & 9. Too many weird things for my taste that don't jive with the originals.

Yeah, there are some things that could have been taken out or replaced, such as the topic of cloning in the Thrawn books, which was definitely interpreted differently than in the prequels. The idea of having an Imperial officer as the main "bad guy" (OK, C'Baoth could have been the main antagonist, but you always had the feeling that Thrawn couldn't have cared less about him throughout the books) always stuck out to me because it kept the trilogy grounded.
Some changes would have to be made, but I think film "versions" and not full-on adaptations of the books would have worked reasonably well as a sequel trilogy to the OT.
Some of the other parts of the EU were waaaaayyyy out there. I think Palps was even cloned in one of them. I think Disney did a good job of killing off the old EU but there were some parts of it that should have been brought back afterwards, bit by bit. The Darth Plagueis book is another good one.

Crazy to see how many huge pieces of Star Wars content Disney/Lucasfilm has lumped in end 2019/early 2020 instead of spreading it out more. Jedi Fallen Order in November. The Mandalorian in November/December. The Rise of Skywalker in December/January. And now The Clone Wars in February.

I think it's a good thing that they pumped the brakes and realized they need to re-evaluate their plan instead of just crapping out a new movie every 12 months.
Shame they didn't take the cleared schedule in 2020-forward as an opportunity to push Ep 9 back a year to iron out the kinks before filming.

Yeah, I saw it. Last arc was really well done and it more than made up for the lackluster second arc. I'll refrain from posting spoilers, but the last 8 or so minutes of episode 12 were perfection.

I'm just glad I waited and started binging it once they got up to about episode 10. I didn't really like either of the first 2 arcs but it's way more tolerable than if you're waiting 7 days only to be very underwhelmed after 20 minutes.

It's just okay imo. If you're not super into Star Wars then idk if there's a lot to love here. The stories are pretty bland and it can be quite slow. A lot of the fun is from all the great visuals and easter eggs for fans to pick up on. It really feels like it takes place in the everyday life of the Star Wars universe, but that novelty would probably wear off quick if you're not a big fan.

I think Disney executives learn from the CBS Access Star Trek series, that if it goes way beyond the storyline of the cannon of the original there is no interest in it from their fan base. CBS Access now stuck in their story loop with no going back since it now is 1,000 years into the future with Discovery. Picard series is pure political against conservatives. They found out that a majority of Trekkies are mid of the road and hated the storyline of a ST: Picard. Thus, no audience for the 2nd ST series either!
