Have a idea, what if Rafa and Federer made a pact? to give each other 1 slam ?

Now we all know how dominant rafa is on clay and Federer is on Grass. What if Rafa and Fed made a secret pact ? to give each other 1 french open to Federer and 1 Wimbledon to Rafa? this is providing that both will get to the finals of those slams in next 3 years. They are both very good friends off the court. fed is missing french to become undisputed greatest player in history, and rafa could gain just as much by claiming a Wimbledon title. I know those critics will say that there is no garantee that rafa will reach another wimbledon final against fed but rafa is playing so well that it is entirely possible. I think this can be very possible, what do you think ?;)

If they made a pact, it would be a disgrace...cheating the great sport of tennis. Sport in general.

Plus, when that kind of collusion is going on, it's tough to actually play your best through the other six rounds. Honestly, I think neither would actually make it to the final if they had some agreement like that.

Seriously.

I feel there is really not that much separating Rog and Raf from the guys they defeat in the second week of the Slams.

I don't think these guys worked as hard as they did for as long as they did, with the endless sacrifices to self and family to sign a little "treaty" at this point. With this mindset, why not just give everyone a grandslam title at some point in their career? No!! Why? Because you need to earn each and every one (although this would probably be the only way Fed could bring home the French). lol. ;)

But this would be the only time and it would be a ultra secret. Fed cannot win the french as long as rafa is alive and rafa cannot win the wimbledon as long as fed alive so, i think it would be a good arrangement as long as this is the one and only time they do it.;)

Fed will probably win FO sooner, and Nadal the AO or USO, almost at Wimbly, nobody wins everytime out against someone... Then they will be one of the greats, if not yet already...:p

Not as long as rafa is alive, Federer pretty admitted after Monte Carlo that he could never beat him on clay and he is hoping rafa would lose to someone else before the finals. :sad:

A deal between the two is laughable for several reasons, but let me play along for a moment anyway:

A) I woudn't say Federer and Nadal are "good friends".

B) Federer doesn't need to make any deals with Nadal. I think he is quite capable of winning the French Open someday, and beating Nadal there too, while it seems less likely Nadal will ever win Wimbledon, and maybe not USO or AO either. I think it was fluke Nadal made the finals at Wimbledon last year, and won't happen again, while Federer in the finals at FO was expected.

It would be a good deal for Nadal, much less so for Federer.

I have to disagree no matter how good roger is on grass his dominance will end and with Nadal chasing after him i believe in the next two years rafa will have bagged his first Wimby

It would be funny brcause Nadal would let Fed have he French, and then for the next few years would fail to make the Wimbledon final, and wish he'd never let Fed win on clay.

Wouldn't work. Chances of Nadal reaching the Wimbledon Final are less than Federer reaching the FO Final.

Besides if I was Federer I'd screw Nadal up. Win Roland Garros then Wimbledon!

Yeah! That would show him!

I'm just a casual tennis fan, but it seems to be that aside from the occassional Canas-like freak upset, Federer is only seriously vulnerable to one man on one surface, Nadal on clay, and he's already come close to beating him on that surface. In contrast, it seems like there are a half a dozen dudes on tour that can beat Nadal on hard court and probably grass as well -- your Blake's, Berdych's, Gonzo's, Djokovic, Youzhny, etc. Not to mention Federer himself.

In short, Federer is a hell of a lot better than Nadal overall and doesn't need to be making any deals.:p

if im rafa - id ask for 2 wimbys for one RG. it may be one Rg but everything rest on that one RG ,GOAT wise.

it is not a good deal for Nadal though...plus the FO is before Wimbly so Roger can say him "no" when, with the Musketeer cup under his belt, it is his turn to hand the Wimbly cup to Nadal...:D

Fed seem like a decent honest guy to me, i don't think he will back out and cheat rafa. Besides if he does, rafa may have some of his spanish mafia friends pay him a visit.;)

Let's face it, Fed's chances on getting to a FO final is probably better than Nadal's chances on getting to a Grass or Hard Court Final (not impossible, just slightly more difficult). Nadal could start negotiating that with Fed on the eve of Grass or Hard Court final against Federer and he would have to dangle the FO carrot for the next year.

You are so right, this is a very intelligent statement. This would mean Fed would have 48hrs to decide wether to throw the match or not, i am not so sure if he would make such impulsive decision. Rafa can continue to ask fed in the changeover during the Final, i suppose. But all in all, if rafa convincingly destroys Fed in the French open final and if Fed is close to giving up on the idea of being able to beat Rafa then this can really work.;)

OK Roger did you stop crying now ? i know you didn't want to cry in front of Bud collins. But now is the time to make a pact with rafa, roger, Go talk to him in the eve of the fortnight and tell him if he reaches the finals, you will give it to him and next year, rafa will throw one to you. i promise.
