Scenario - Rafa wins USO2020. Novak wins RG2020.

Would you be ok with this, and why not?

These guys are so out of shape that this is the best year for all the dark horses to win one or even start to take over the tour. guys like Thiem, Stepanoe, and Sasha. or maybe not sasha...… anyway this is Thiem's chance to sneak one out of RAFA before he retires. Dom better have been training, big time

I think both sides would be happy with that:

-Nadal gets another Major off of clay, ties pulls to within 1 of the record 5 U.S. Open titles held by a few players, and gets his 20th Major to tie Federer; and
-Djokovic gets the double career Slam, remains 2 Majors behind Nadal, and pulls to within 2 Majors 1 Major of Federer

Nadal already has 4 so that in scenario he would tie the record of 5 US Opens held by Fed, Sampras, and Connors.

Yup exactly.

I can't see the problem here.
Ok, Nadal would be better in 2 slam, Djokovic in 2. And Djokovic would still be better on 2/3 surfaces.
Djokovic would have more weeks#1 and probably YE#1. He has the H2H advantage(Although not in GS).
If he can shorten the distance in the Slam race, he would be considered better than Rafa. 2 GS more are a strong case with the same competition, but it's the same with Rafa winning RG and Nole USO.

I wouldn't give up on a Double Career Grand Slam only to be tied with Rafa in USO titles, without even a record there.
Maybe it's only because i'm not involved in the "Rafa is only a clay courter" narrative(I'm not saying you are), on the contrary I think it's stupid call clay courter someone who won the same non-clay slam of McEnroe, Agassi and Connors and I wouldn't be upsetted if another HC title helps to put an end to it.

It's less against Rafa and more about Nole for me, he would then trail both his rivals 5 to 3 at a HC slam even though I think he is set to be the HC goat. It's a bit of a flaw.

You make a good case though

My wife is a Rafa fan and I think she would prefer Rafa wins USO. It would be incredible for him.

I would be happy with literally anyone winning USO 2020 and RG 2020, even Leonardo Mayer.

Some live action would be exciting.

My countryman Paolo Lorenzi is 39-4 in International Tennis Series.
Jannik Sinner can wait for his slam, it's Paolino time!

No. Djokovic underachieved at the US Open while one RG is about right. And don't get me started on how much VamosBrigade would spawn in this place if Nadal actually shared a USO title record lol.

Nadal owning a share of the USO record or owning it outright would be an enormous, perhaps definitive boost to his GOAT claim.

Fedr hasn't won the USO since 2008; in that time Nadal has won it 4 times.
But by your logic 4 is irrelevant. It's more about winning the last 2/3.

If Federer's 5 from 04-08 don't matter, then neither do Nadal's 2010 or 2013 since he's practically a different player at this point.

Nadal has won 2 out of the last 3 and he retired injured against in the 2018 SF.
