Yonex SHT-304; sounds too good to be true?

They seem to be the lightest tennis shoe out there (the new "R" version is, even lighter!). According to Yonex, they provide excellent comfort, plus excellent stability. I'm needing a new pair and, if all of this is true, this is the one! So, please comment.

I had a pair of these a year or so ago. Believe it or don't, they are almost everything they say they are. They're great for wide feet for one--and are very light, very comfortable, and very stable. The biggest negative I could find is traction. On hard courts no problem, but their "modified herringbone" pattern just didn't cut it on Har-Tru for me. For hard courts though, I don't think I've found any "lightweight" shoe that's better (that's still being produced). All the tournaments around here seem to be on clay, so I moved onto the K-Swiss Defier RS instead, but if I were a predominantly hard player, I'd keep using them.

Oh, one more thing...the arch is medium height in these--a bit higher than a lot of other brands.

EDIT: And the silver color is *badass*... IMHO of course ;-)

The main negatives IMO-

-poor durability

-traction ok not great. Definitely noticed a difference between 304s and BIIs

Thanks, Craig and Cooper. Maybe the new "R" version has better traction. Does anyone know from personal experience?

I wear Nike Breathe Free II, Adidas Barricade IV, and Yonex 304. For hard courts, the Yonex 304 cushioning is the best, by far.

It's very cushy and soft. Wears down fast.
My feet get hot after awhile but that's with all shoes.

I'm using the non-R version. I'm going to buy the R version next.

304-r

Just tried mine on. They run truer to size than Addidas (barricades must order a full size larger) are very light, comfortable (looks like a leather shoe) and very roomy in the toebox. It's raining but will post a hardcourt review soon.

304 - i found them light, cushioned, made for wider feet (toe box is deep and wide), decent durability. i was disappointed in the traction as i slipped and skidded on hard courts a few times. not a bad shoe but didn't blow me away either.

PERFECT 304-Rs

Ordered a half size large and added gel orthos; large in toebox but no excessive movement; excellent traction on hardcourt; much lighter and less bulky than Barricades; best shoe I've ever owned (they look like a high quality leather shoe)
