Novak's loss at the USO

only increases the importance of his wins at FO.

he stopped Nadal from reaching 21

came back from 2 sets down to win the final and #19

Without this today it could be 21-20-19. Three more slams after today's loss looks difficult

that SF at FO may end up as one of the single biggest wins in Novak's slam career. And today's loss makes it even more relevant

Imagine if he had lost to Nadal at FO, which many thought a done deal after the first set

The only man to lose 6 finals at a slam.Big time underachiever here, it's a very curious case.I dunno what makes him so unbeatable in the AO Finals but at the same time beatable in the USO ones :D 18 HC slam finals, that's second to none.

AO is pretty slow, bounce is medium but slow, that enables Novak to belt his returns

Good luck & bad luck.

Yet isn’t Wimbledon his best slam today?

Because of clowns

Even guys like Roddick and Murray would be 5-6 time wimbledon winners if you remove Fed and Novak from the picture and send them to 2013 and make them play every year till 2022-2023

Forget Grass, it is Novak's luckiest hunting ground

By the time he retires he will have 10 Ws and he will make Sampras nd Federer look like inferiors there.

That much he is lucky

It is you who need help.
I said AO is slow so it helps his returns but you quickly have to point wimbledon as a reply to that because it shows your insecurity, you feel if someone says slow courts help his return then it means they r classifying him as a slow courter? You need help, meet some specialist

The same can be said for Nadal v Djokovic on all surfaces.

Uh, no, not really. There are a lot of uncertainties for Rafa when playing on grass, hardcourt and indoor hardcourt that have nothing to do with Novak. The only uncertainty for Rafa on clay is when he faces Novak, because the possibility of losing is far greater than a fluke like it is with any other opponent.

it’s ok to show vulnerability

The AO has been sped up since 2017 though.

Sped up since 2017 in a period when Fed is slower and old, that benefits Novak since he is still not too old.
Speeding up courts don't mean Federer will win automatically.
Now I think youngsters will benefit from speeding, next year Medvedev will be double dangerous

He hasn't take a set off Novak on hard since ever.
Rafa hasn't been fully fit for the best part of 9 years - since summer 2012.

I am sure Rafa hasn't declined or Djokovic has progressed that much on h/c since Rafa beat him at the USO 2013. Rafa has also won the USO two more times since then. Rafa has been stopping and starting with injury and 2015 he had his worst year on tour even though that year he wasn't nursing an injury.
Their 2018 SF at Wimbledon was a travesty of justice. We all know what happened there and it went to the wire with Djokovic clinching it 10-8 in the5th set.

I know Djokovic's fans like to believe that there is a gulf between, but in truth, there isn't. It's circumstances.

Without the freak Isner-Anderson marathon giving Djokovic a daybreak, Nadal would have won. Nadal had superior stamina that day and would have outlasted Djokovic.

He hasn’t won a set, not a single set, in HC since 2013 against Novak. That‘s pigeon territory. Even Novak managed to beat Nadal at the FO in that time period.
I am not disputing that but I am sure Rafa hasn't declined on hard court if he had he wouldn't have won the USO and the Canadian Open twice in that time.

It IS one of the single biggest victories because it made him the first fella in the Open era to win them all twice :D That seems more important than stopping Nadal from winning 21.

But Nadal bageled Medvedev in Canada and Medvedev has just taken Djokovic to the cleaners on hard court.

I take it you missed that Djokovic hammered Medvedev also in a HC slam final this year....And that score line was even worse with 6-2, 6-2 sets.

Besides, you only make my point more...Nadal is playing well, but no match for Djokovic on HC in last 8 years. Only two sets out of 19 have ever gone to tie break...that is pwnage.

Yes, but I haven't said Djokovic is no good on hard court.

So how is it that Nadal was able to bagel the guy who beat Djokovic in straight sets on h/c if Djokovic is that much better than Nadal. Nadal has been compromised fitness wise for years but people have a short memory. In January people will be saying that Nadal hasn't made the USO final for 2 years, completely blanking out the fact that he hasn't played in them.
