Season tips off tonight with a double header. Nets and Bucks tip off the season, Lakers and Warriors finish off the night. Have to wait until tomorrow to see my Knicks and my favorite huskie cardiac Kemba in action.

I really wonder why the 76ers don't just cut their losses and dump Simmons. The guy in all probability still can't shoot and seems utterly unwilling to be a team player. Time to face reality and start looking for a replacement.

Gotta say I'm intrigued to see how Russ will fit in with the Fakers. Still expect the Clips to come out ahead with my other boy Kawhi, though.

Thought they'd be out with the list of 75 GOATs by Opening Day. 100% chance they'll get half of 'em wrong.

Morey should have traded Simmons the moment he demanded a trade. Free the team up from the drama and let him be an issue for someone else. Or not even accept him back in practice.

I, too, am curious with how Russ will play along LeBron and how the rest of that roster outside of Bron and AD will contribute through out the season.

Should be a fun opening night with some terrible takes from fans that will be over-reacting after one game.

LeBron is the best player ever. he may not have the greatest achievements and MJ is obviously GOAT currently but I have never seen a better player of the game of basketball.

The Lakers looked like complete amateurs though and wasted two gems from Bron+AD. Russ was an unmitigated disaster and Melo was almost as bad.

Nets are in real trouble without a vaccinated Kyrie imo.

I think the Nets will be fine. Having KD and Harden alone will keep them as one of the top teams in the East. Giannis and the Bucks simply match up better between the two.

add the fact Giannis is showing a more consistent jumper. Yikes. Could be another big year for him.

Lebron and AD will get theirs. But the biggest factor is if Russ can adjust his game to compliment Bron and AD. So far, he has not been able to do that during his time in Washington and Houston.

Nobody has any shot with Ted Cruz/Doug/Joffrey Baratheon Grayson James Allen on the defending champions.

wow what a game to start off the season. Felt like game 7 of the ECF. I know @Federer and Del Potro is Celtics fan, you almost had us. Brown went off and Williams shut Randle down in the 4th and both OTs. Unfortunately former Celtic Fournier was the difference.

I'm picking Luka Doncic for MVP. Lakers beat the Bucks in the finals. Lebron gets title #5. I don't feel confident about my finals pick, tbh. I would pick the Nets to win it all if Kyrie was playing

IMO, I don't think the Lakers will make the finals if Russ doesn't adapt his playing style to LeBron and KDs. I think that'll be the biggest hurdle for the Lakers to get there.

I agree, but it's a long season and I think they'll adjust. I also expect that they'll make moves at the trade deadline. Whatever happens, I think it's going to be a very interesting year. Both conferences are going to be an absolute dogfight. I'm 33 and I think this is the deepest and most talented I've seen the NBA

Adam Silver should be required to do all public addresses in a Celtics #11 jersey.

Sadly, this is true about the tall, thin, bald puppet. Maybe the press pool could give him a nudge with some creative wardrobing. A sea of Celtic green #11 jerseys facing him at his pressers should remind him that there’s no good to be had from dirty money.

Jokic retaliates after taking an elbow to the ribs from Markieff Morris.

Here's my take: Jokic deserves to be suspended for obvious reasons, but so does Morris. This is the result of the NBA letting players get away dirty play for years. If you pulled the same move that Morris did in a pick up game, there would immediately be a fight. The fact that Morris felt comfortable turning away after delivering a dirty hit should tell you all you need to know. Players like him, his brother, Pat Bev, Draymond etc have been getting away with this crap. Eventually a player will retaliate

Accentuate the positive…Chef goes 50/7/13 at age 33. Much bigger headline deserved, passing Wilt as the oldest to do the nickel with a dub dub. GSW is 9-1 and doing it as a team with Chef breaking out of a 4-game “mini-slump” (for him) scoring 20 or less. And still no KT.

I look at it simply as this:

Morris messed around and found out what Jokic is all about. Morris twins always acted tough since being in the league. Also, no one is buying Jimmy Butler. He's all talk. Hell, he was standing right next to Jokic when the foul occurred and now you want to run your mouth after there are people in-between you too. Soft. He didn't want anything to do with Nene back in the day, he certainly wouldn't do nothing to Jokic.

And lastly, Jokic's brothers. Yeah, they look like they do the dirt on the streets and protect Jokic because he has the real talent lol.

Biggest thing about Steph that I have been impressed with is his defense. So far this season, he has been moving well on the defensive end and working. The W's finally have the bench depth that's making opponents having to 'play off' Steph but that hurts them. Love that the W's are 9-1 one right now (grew up a Warriors fan through the bad, bad years). The bench depth will be the key this season for them. I only think they can maintain this success when Klay and Wiseman return.

More than halfway to the Laker all-time record (33 straight) and tied for 11th with 18 straight, the Suns rematch with GSW tonight in SF is must see NBA. Bridges shut Curry down (4 of 21 for 12 points) on Tuesday in Phoenix and the GSW combo of Poole/Porter faded in the fourth quarter to help deliver the 8-point win.

It should be a bit closer margin tonight than Memphis over (+73, a new record) OKC last night. That blowout was achieved without Ja Morant and with only three starters in double figures. Six reserves reached double digits with one rookie Santi Aldama getting a career first dub dub (18/10) in 28 minutes.

Record may fall Monday night when the Pistons and OKC meet.

I half expected MJ to skip this parade of ATGs, but good to see him there with the other legends. (In case you're wondering, yes he got the biggest applause, even more than LBJ, and of course was introduced last.) Doubt even HoF ceremonies feature so much star power. (Well, except maybe his own, but y'all know what happened.) A pretty awesome nite indeed.

Haven't caught any All-Star action save a few glances tonight. (Yes, thx to the Os.) Will try to pay more attention during the replay at 11 (fat chance with the Beijing closing ceremony, though) and report back if I see anything else interesting.

Bucks are dominating the first quarter against Pistons. Great defending. Not giving them any easy shot. Break their spirit, then they were getting easy shots and missing them all. Timeout.

I watched the Nets vs Cavaliers play in match this morning. Kyrie Irving was goating for a while. I think he was something like 12/12 at one stage.

Hawks and Hornets for me tonight. (y)

That's right. One more chance, Sir. Nets get Boston in the playoffs and Cavaliers will play whoever loses tonight.

I didn't know the play ins were a thing. Just thought it was the top 8 automatically through. Limited knowledge here. Hyped for the match tonight. (y)

HCA maintained in all 4 play-in games so far. I could see Atlanta upsetting Cleveland if they can duplicate tonight when they hit the road but they were 16-25 away from State Farm. LAC will move past NOP.

I've always had a bit of an interest but never got round to watching. Watched a lot of documentaries lately. I've been playing the game and watching the Winning Time show. Now is the time.

Casual fan alert. I've watched some games this week. A little easier to get used to players because there are 10 on the court at once. Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum impressed. I'll be watching the playoffs. Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks would probably be the series I'm most interested in.

Then the storylines. LA Lakers situation seems kind of baffling. Contracts seem mad. I should get used to it all in time. haha

It was funny listening to Stephen A Smith ranting about Zion's practice dunk. ''I am disgust.''

NYK didn’t make it; the NY based playoff team to face the Celtics is Brooklyn Nets. That matchup dynamic will be all about Kyrie vs his old mates Tatum, Brown and Smart.

My brain couldn't keep up with my typing speed. I shouldn't make such an error. haha

Yeah, I've been watching some shows leading up to it. Who do you think will win the Nets vs Celtics series?

It’s confusing for even ardent NBA fans because NYK made the playoffs last year but regressed in 21-22.

That series outcome is hard to predict, especially now that the rumors are swirling that Ben Simmons may be targeting a Game 4 appearance, his first of the season. Brooklyn is porous defensively, something Simmons could help with in limited minutes. His use might boomerang on the Nets though if Boston counters with Hack-a-Ben tactics and Simmons bricks his FTs, a common occurrence for him even when not rusty.

I wouldn’t bet the house on either team but I lean towards Boston with a stable lineup, decent defense and HCA. Game 7 in Boston would be a crackerjack game!

It sucks that you won’t see the Lakers in the playoffs this year. A totally overrated, overcovered team, but playoff LeBron is a phenomena of epic proportion, like “motivated Djokovic”, “uninjured Nadal”, and “Federer with layered hair”. Even at age 37 I bet he could have willed that sorry squad to a play in win. For the best I suppose.

First round week is like Christmas in April. Time wise will be tough for you but there’s always drama. Special eyes on Celts-Nets, @stringertom gives a great preview. KD+Kyrie will need to average 75 combined for the Nets to have a chance. Thing is, they almost certainly will, lol…

Eyes on Grizzlies-Wolves as two first time playoff darlings enter the fray, Nuggets-Warriors as MVP-elect Jokic looks to carry his team against the questionable fitness of Steph/Klay/Dray, 76ers-Raptors as Embiid+Harden are put to the test, and of course international flavored Jazz-Mavs.

Only the Suns-8 seed and Bucks-Bulls should be blowouts. Hopefully it’s Hawks who win the play in as they actually could push the Heat to the limit imo.

Thanks for the (y) review. I concur with your synopses.

I will point out that the Nets won a close one vs the Cavs with KI/KD playing nearly flawless offensively but Brown was the key extra guy down the stretch. I’m doubting the three of them will fire on all cylinders 4x in the series to move on. They desperately need to leave Boston at worst tied 1-1 so HCA is removed at least temporarily.

Trae Young is exciting. I don't think he was shooting or finishing too well at the start the other night. Might have improved because I didn't see all the match. He did have the dimer and needle threader playmaker badges activated. ''I like the way you move.''

Second half shooting was much better. He tends to be streaky.
