hey 10s talk, ive gone 4 years in a row and going this year as well. The radisson lexington in manhatton is a great one and also a players hotel, and close to a bunch of other players hotels. This year im switching to the park ave hotel should be a good on as well.
In or around Time Square is the place to stay. Not only you will enjoy the infinite the places to visit in Manhattan, the train (Number 7) that goes to the USTA BJK, start or begins in the 42nd between the 7th and 8th street (right in front of the ESPN restaurant), and that means you will travel comfortably seated in the 20-25 minutes journey. Another place is near Grand Central Station, for the same reasons mentioned above.
Last time I stay in the Novotel (around $200.00 per night). Do the search.

Try Murray Hill East. 38th between Lex & Park. Not the fanciest but clean, and if there are a few people they have suites. Probably about $300 a night ( if they have any rooms that is.) Only a few blocks from GCS and #7 train.

The Amsterdam Court Hotel on 50th between 7th and 8th Ave is pretty nice. It's clean, but the rooms are on the small side (typical for NYC hotels though). Grand Central is only a few blocks away and the rates usually range between $200-250 per night.

Free transportation to the tournament and free parking. The hotel is fine. And it's around $120.00/night.

I've stayed there twice myself. Fully agree with your assessment. But I'd be shocked if he could score a room there this late.
Amen, brother. Not sure that exists in Manhattan.
My friend always uses Priceline.com and gets very good deals. Throw out a price and see if someone bites. At this late date it may be the only way to avoid paying $300/night. Good luck.

true, true. it is late. everything's probably going to be $300 and up/night now. priceline at this point is not such a bad idea or if you're really looking to save $$, on craig's list under vacation rentals there are people who rent out their apartments to out of town tourists for a few days and up.
