No one takes Nadal's place as my main rival ever, doesn't matter what Alcaraz does

OK, he didn't quite say those words. :p

But, Djokovic saying it as it is, that no matter what anyone else does, not matter how much success they gain, and no matter how much Nadal struggles, there is no way anyone takes Nadal's place as Djokovic's main rival.

To me, his rivalry with them is better than the one they had woth each other. Their rivalry pales in comparison in my opinion and is more media driven.

It was only in the media bc it was actually THAT good. Tennis hasn’t been on that level since.

That's actually part of it, yes. Djokovic has also played them both in Slams more than they played each other and had epic matches with both.
Here you are wrong. Very few of these matches can be called epic. Or you belong to this group of users who think AO 2019 final was epic?

Why is Alcaras intentionally pushed into narrative over and over again as Novak's big rival ? Just how many matches did they play ? Seems like they avoided each other more than played against each other.

Djokovic has legendary matches with Fedal. Matches that will be talked about long after they've retired. Obviously that doesn't include AO 2019.

That's exactly what he said. He also said he hopes to play Nadal in the final at RG.

That would be EPIC.

This was what popped into my head.

Djokovic as Achilles and Nadal as Hector.....Djokovic doesn't want Nadal to fade away to the like of McDonalds. He wants it to be the right way, taking out Nadal himself.

Agree. He has played both more in slams than they have played each other, he also have played overall more matches against both also. He has also defeated BOTH at all four slams and the WTF final.

Yea, it really was lol. Tennis peaked with the Wimbledon 08 and AO 09 finals :D
Both matches Nadal won of course. Lol. I would think tennis peaked in 2012-2013 when Djokovic and Nadal were pushed to the brink by each other at their pet Slams, as well as the overall quality especially in 2012, but that's just my opinion.

Of course he wants to face the easiest possible competition. I don't remember him or his fans ever wanting to face prime Nadal in RG.

Yup. Epic matches with both at RG and Wimbledon, epic match with Federer at USO, Nadal at AO, etc. Who can forget the 2012 WTF final? That's not including Masters matches.

No, he knows NEVER to underestimate Nadal. That is the ultimate sign of respect that even after the bad show of form these past few months, the real Nadal can come back, and Djokovic is fully expecting him to.
Yeah, sure. Interesting enough, Djokovic fans get upset when someone hypes a win over even a decent version of Djokovic, forget about a bad one.
