If Carlos Alcaraz wins Wimbledon, will it be considered a strong slam win?

Strong if Alcaraz somehow wins.

Strong for Djokovic depends on how he wins and how Alcaraz plays. So far it’s lots of your usual nextgen choking followed by an easy semi final.

If Alcaraz blows Djokovic away, then sure why not?

Because given Djokovic’s level right now and the massive age disadvantage he has, Alcaraz should be beating him. That’s something that should be expected, not praised.

IF both players show up in high form it will be the best match since Sinner/Alc USO last year. But if either guy is off the other will win solidly. Both are really good right now.

If Carlos wins Wimbledon, he will have defeated the best player from his own decade (Rune), the best player born the previous decade (Med), and then the best player born 2 decades earlier (Djoker).

If he beats Djokovic, thats a LEGIT wimbledon title for Tiny
He won the USO as a teenager. Bjorn Borg tried to win the USO 10 times and never did it.

That's a legit win in everybody's eyes except you and some other random idiot.

You taking 06 Nads over 17 Fed cuz I'm not. And that's Rafael Nadal we're talking about not some run of the mill ATG. Don't see why he should be expected to win here especially on grass at this stage of his career. RG maybe a different story but not here.

Honestly I think it’s very close.

But 2017 Federer at Wimbledon was quite a bit better than Djokovic is at the moment, I think. That’s what the “given Djokovic’s level right now” part of my post was about.

Alcaraz is playing better than Djokovic this tournament. He has the form advantage leading in, which should lead to a victory. It hinges on whether he stays on his course or if there’s some drop in his level going into the big match (as there was during the first two sets of the RG semi, even before the cramping).

I didn't watch either the QF/SF particularly closely (I had them on in the background while I was doing other stuff and was only able to fully pay attention for spurts) but Djokovic just routined two top ten guys one of whom beat Carlos here last year. Seems like he's in solid form to me. Have you felt Djokovic has been subpar thus far? Just from a scoreline/opponent perspective it seems a stronger run to the final than the last two.

I'd be careful about saying that when Alcaraz is producing these levels not against Djokovic. It's a lot easier to look great when guys are giving you constant opportunities to be great. Djokovic is not so generous. Carlos also hasn't looked world beating to me. The Rune match was the one I watched the closest and while he was good he didn't blow me away. I still think Novak is the rightful favorite on Sunday.

That’s fair, but I’m not super high on Djokovic’s form here, same as in the last couple of editions. He had a few lows against Sinner but Jannik couldn’t capitalize. He looked pretty good in the Rublev match though.

Alcaraz hasn’t really gone above and beyond in the QF and SF but I was fairly impressed by his level. By far his best display was in the Berrettini match though—that might be the best I’ve seen him return up to this point in time and if he brings that form to the final I think it’s enough to topple Djokovic.
