Two well-known standard spin strings are Prince's Topspin Plus and Topspin with Duraflex 15L.
A fairly effective new one is Wilson's Super Spin Hexagonal.
How much spin, though, too? Spin strings come with varying degrees of texture, which translates to differences in the amount of spin you get.

Sorry to inform you but it's not that easy. Some strings are better than others but it really depends on your playing style and likes/dislikes. A thinner gauge string helps with spin, but your hitting style matters more. If you hit with topspin strokes it really does not matter what string you hit with that much.
Take Rafa for an example. He uses Babolat Duralast 15L, one of the thickest tennis strings out there, but he gets massive topspin, totally because of his grip and the way he swings at the ball. Gut is the best string by far but it's expensive. Then there are the new groups of Poly strings that will work for control, but don't hold tension well. Finally there are hybrids, mixtures of poly and gut or synthetic gut strings.
It really comes down to experimention of different string with the racquet of your choice to find what works best for you. Ask all you like but you will not know until you try for yourself. Best of luck in your search.

like LUX TIMO ACE 18gauge...or any other good rep brand...youll find out that these so called "topspin strings" arent good in the long run in regards to playability (ive tried prince and iso speed)...or better yet just get "NATURAL GUT" its the ultimate string for power spin...

Definitely a mixture of poly and another syn gut. I like to use a textured string in my mains (right now Gamma Ruff) and a poly in the crosses. I feel this gives me good spin and the poly helps to deaden up the string bed so I can swing away. However, take a look at your strokes too (like everyone has been saying), that will play big part too.

Topspin is more a matter of technique although it can be enhanced with the use of polyester strings or kevlar for the mains. Just about any thin-gauge poly meets your criterion. You can opt for those with textured surface (BB ALU Power Rough) or hexagonal cross-section (PHT or Signum Pro HEXtreme) but they tend to be more pricey.
Screw technique, that's not what the OP was asking so it doesn't need to be mentioned. Some strings allow for more spin than others, end of story.

I'm not a string breaker so I consider that a reasonable price. If you want something under $5, Gamma Synthetic Gut 18 for $3.85 is quite good (although not close to the Polyfibre). Under $10 and you could look at Yonex Tournament 80 Spin for $6.50 (lots of spin but I prefer a thinner gauge), Babolat Razor Spin 16 at $4.95, Gamma Ruff at $8 or Prince Topspin Plus at $5.85.

Pro Supex for Blue Gear is great for spin!
I am leaniing towards either an all PSGD 17g or trying a hybrid. If looking for control and added spin--should I go poly in the mains or crosses and what gauge?

i've used Wilson's Super Spin Hexagonal 16g in one racquet (hurts fingers when stringing/fanning)
i've used 17g string on another similar racquet (easy to string)
both seemed to produce the same amount of spin for my game

whats really good for top spin is gamma fusion 19, but dont use the crosses it comes with, use gut or Xcel premium, or maybe even a poly, so the strings dont move as much.

have you played with Alpha ultra spin classic vc. Alpha ultra spin solid core (SC)?
I am trying to find a string that plays siimlar to Prince Topspin plus -- -same kind of
crisp feel, and the spin capability.

I had a dude at 48 years old string up his os Wilson N1 with that string. He said he never hits with much spin but that string just wouldn't let him play without it.

Pro Hurricane Tour is nothing like Duralast. I have some of both and have tried both. Duralast is the nastiest string ever created. It makes Pro Hurricane Tour feel like a nice soft gut.
Nadal does use Duralast. After trying it, I understand why he can't get much pace on his serve and how the ratio of spin to pace on his groundstrokes is so great; there is nothing special about the spin potential of the string, it just has no power at all. His crazy racquet speed is captured by the spin, but he doesn't get crazy out-of-control pace because his strings are completely dead.

While in general I'm in favor of thin, stiff strings to improve topspin (and the higher swing speed the thinner gauges promote), you just might find you like Prince's Topspin 15L, the one with Duraflex added in, just like PSGD, better--as a control string too...

The micro will not give as much spin as Blue Gear. Remember that Blue Gear is hex shaped.

Have you read the article about string stiffness, roughness etc. and its affect on spin? It suggests that spin is not affected by tension or roughness of strings, although myself, thought blue gear had better spin
