One Handers with Babolat Frames

So I'm sure some of you have heard, there is a Danish Sophomore who moved from Denmark to Troy, Michigan to attend Troy High School (I go to the rival school in the city, Athens High School). He was on the national team in Denmark and declined going pro last year. He is now the singles 1 of that high school team. Just some backround information.

We had a tournament and Troy High was in it, so I decided to watch the Denmark Prodigy, Magnus Hallahan, warmup. It didn't seem like he was trying, but it was still quite amazing.

He was sponsored by Babolat 4 years back, so he currently uses a Pure Storm and has a two handed backhand. However, he suddenly pulled out one handers and kept hitting winners. I couldn't believe he could hit them so well with a Babolat frame.

Apparently he heard our singles 4 praise him under his breath because his one handed backhand was better than his and it was what our singles 4 used regularly. He responded with "I have a sweet one handed backhand."

What do you guys think about this?

seems really cocky to me...i rarely see anyone who has a consistent one handed bh that uses a babolat

correction: i've "never" seen anyone who has a consistent backhand one hander that uses a babolat

I think it's amazing that people could actually believe it's difficult to hit a one-handed backhand with any brand of racquet.

You guys have got to be joking...anyone can hit a one hander with a Babolat. I use a one hander and they work just fine. It's about technique...

yeah, really. I use a one handed backhand (slice and topspin) with a PD+, and I've never run across any problems with the combination. Same when I play with my PC

this is kinda a ridiculous thread. if you have the right technique you can hit any shot with any frame. you might be able to hit the ball flatter or with more spin with certain frames but thats about it.

i understand that but it's weird i know three people who use a PDR/PD (just one for fun) and they all use one handers and all have trouble with it when using their babolats...i thought it was weird myself.

#1 uses a LM prestige midplus
#2 uses prostaff tour 90
#3 uses nBlade midplus

well i used to be able to do a one hander just for fun (usually two handed) with my old PDC because it was so light. then i grew a lil bit and enjoyed my 2 hand again with my LM Prestige. babolats just arent thought of having 1 handers because of people like roddick and clijsters

With all due respect, maybe they need to get better?

So three people equate to a universal truth? Come on now...

he beat jason chen of my school 6-4 6-3 or something like that
but the other day i heard hunter from andover beat him, but jason lost the first set to hunter, then beat him 6-0 6-0.

i watched his match and it seems like he could actually get beaten by some of the other top ranked juniors in michigan.

now you're putting words in my mouth i never said it was impossible or hard just saying i've never seen anyone do it consistently though. both of them are pretty consistent with their normal racquets on their bh, fh being the stronger shot. alot of their shots just seem to go long.

Now that I think about, I've never seen a fellow junior that has a 1hbh and plays with a babolat. Kind of odd, seeing as I could hit one fine with a PC, even though I use a 2hbh.

i never said that now you're putting words in my mouth. i just said i've never seen someone use a babolat with a consistent one handed backhand...and i haven't...didn't say no one could do it...just saying i've never seen it done before

sorry for the double post...first one didn't show up

What...I hit a one-handed backhand with a PD Roddick...are you kidding...learn the stroke before you comment...the player always has more to do with the result than the racquet.

I used to use a pure control zylon 360 plus and hit one handers with no problem. it was a babolat and extended length. you can hit any shot with any racquet if you're used to the racquet and know how to hit the shot.

Ljubicic - way better backhand than forehand, and he used to use a Babolat (maybe still is).
