It was allready waxed in the package so no I didn't wax anything. I played with this thing for like 6 sets allready and it is still holding. I bought it of the auction site it was called Ace Play Natural Gut or something like that. And yes it does feel rough, but plays very soft like natural gut should (right?). The diameter of it is suppose to be 15L but it was more towards the 14 because I had to use an awl in the grommets(sp?)

how much did it end up being per set for the cheap auction site gut?

Lol.. I wondered what gauge it was when I saw it and commented the other night. It looks really thick. Price?

How does that play?

I strung it up for a friend who plays with insane topspin and chews through crosses like a chainsaw. But he is particular about playability and comfort on top of durability. Synthetic Titan is able to give him at least 20 hours before packing it in, but after trying out different types of syn gut, he likes ST for great feel, comfort and durablity.

^^^^ ohh, it's dead on.. like it's made for the PC.

I'm sticking with my ProStaff's...old and new (building collection now)... we will see how the red BA matches up with a Black PS!

I strung all of these myself; k6.1 team w/ red x-1 biphase mains and gosen polylon crosses. plays well, lasts ~20 hrs.

when the thread title is changed to "Post Pictures of your Crappy String Jobs like an Academy Stringing"

haha. you better be "MONEY" when you play. if i ever beat someone with a stencil like that i think i would take their racquet from them haha. but it is original so i can't really knock it!

Original, nah, kids have been doing that since the seventies and 80s. Same with a peace sign,
a middle finger,
the smiley face,
the frown or the angry face,
the Jesus fish,
a star of David (seriously a kid on my HS team did that),
an Italian horn,
a huge tennis ball,
a penis...or was that a rocketship?
a yin/yang symbol,
a bullseye,
a breast (similar to bullseye),
a lightning bolt,
a Pepperdine wave,
the letters of your college (e.g. M, UNC, UVa, UW, OSU, MSU, SU, UT, CU, Cal, etc),
fraternity letters in Greek,
a half red/half blue star,
the symbol for Pi, etcetera.

I guess there's only so much artwork you can do on a stringbed, it's not like a pumpkin or a piece of sketch paper....so I've also seen some poorly done ones, like the keep on truckin' guy, a court jester...stuff like that.

I hope I didn't just spawn a cool stencil thread.
Hasve you cats ever seen the BorisBecker serving man logo?

yeah, it plays pretty nicely. I am going to try out Big Ace once again, for the first time in about a year to see which poly i like better.

So I was over at Tim's house and I sat down in that chair, and his Pure Drive angrily said [translated from French], "get your large American back out of my chair!" No "s'il vous plait" or anything.

BTW, this thread is one only a purist can appreciate. Like, if my wife saw this, she'd agree, and she'd understand why my trusty ol' Star3 still lives in the playroom.

I'm not alone. Thank you guys.

Oh, and I will not bore you with photos of my gut/hurricane (natural on natural) stringjobs.

I go for 57# mains and 54# crosses... The stiff poly in the crosses helps keep the mains in line, I think. What tension do you use?
It's interesting that someone else would use the same hybrid as me. Out of all the options, what are the chances of that?:)

Going back to Big Ace, stringing tonight! :)

I have never seen "etc." spelled out. That is truly something odd to me.

a] I am surprised someone actually read down to the end of a list that long
b] normally I'd go with the abbreviated version but if I had, it could be construed (sitting right next to Pi) as another symbol for a custom stencil, which I honestly have not seen.
c] I'm actually amazed you felt it was so odd that you felt compelled to devote a post to it. That's truly something odd to me.;-)

Post Script: take care, man.

Post post script: have a happy Christmas. Jersey is nice this time of year.
