Nadal Switched to AeroPro with Cortex?

Coretex is weight at the top of the grip. Before Coretex, Nadal already used a basically stock racquet with weight added at the top of the grip, inside the core of the frame. Babolat came out with Coretex, coming out with racquets closer to what pros really use, which is probably why they called the first Coretex racquet, the Roddick Pure Drive.

Nice info, but does this mean that the new aeropro cortex will be heavier ? that would really suck since i like the swingweight around 322 or so.

what racquets do they use then?

Well, just read the posts from the beginning and you'll get almost half of the answers. Just go back to the start. Nadal has an Aeropro Drive without Cortex. Roddick uses a Pure Drive + Team without Cortex, Nalbandian uses a customized Yonex RDX 500 extended length painted the new Yellow frame, Haas uses a Dunlop Muscle Weave 200G painted as an Aerogel 300. Blake doesn't even use a Prince even though he's signed with them. Moya doesn't even use a Pure Drive.

You are right on everything except for Moya. Moya has been using pure drive standard for i don't even remember how long. Of course, his racket is not stock, his pure drive is heavier version with different balance. and Blake does use prototype Prince, it just is not in the market yet. ;)

Cortex is not a weight at the top of the grip. The image that went along with your post is proof that Nadal does not use Cortex in his racquet. The yellow V that is supposed to be the Cortex is just painted on.

The APD Cortex in Fede's picture looks very flat. Is it an illusion, or does the grip seem to be flatter too?

Are you serious? Well, your eyes aren't deceiving you because that picture is of a cortex paintjob on the new Babolat APD racket.

Thank You Fede for those great Photos!:-D

No Cortex.

BTW, those strings look more translucent than the Pro Hurricane Tour strings which they say Nadal uses. I guess his strings are too good for the public to use.

#1 point: it's Cortex, not Coretex, why are you still doing the mistake?
#2 point: once again you're telling a lot of BS about what the pros use. I've already posted actual Nadal's specs. ;)

I don't criticize your (?) weighting trick in any way in this post. Just your lack of knowledge about Rafa in this case.

Rafa has indeed demoed the stock APD Cortex and he found it really nice. No need to change during the clay season, but he'll seriously try it when the hardcourts are back.

another point here....those strings look like Duralast rather than Pro Hurricane Tour...pro Hurricane Tour are a brighter yellow colour and less transparent. SO...to conclude Nadal uses a normal APD with Duralast...probably

It's not even a Pure Drive like you say. He really uses a Soft Drive with PD cosmetics. It's even head heavy. Nothing like a PD.

I have Duralast strings like Rafa and I used Pro Hurricane Tour. He definitely uses Duralast. I've seen the way they look when they relfect the sunshine and are more clear than the Pro Hurricane Tour, which are a lighter, creamy colored yellow. I'm not crazy about Cortex, so why don't Babolat sell both Aeropros (in new cosmetics) with and without Cortex? At least we have the option, whichever sells most after a year should stay. That way Babolat knows what people like more and keep their customers happy.

What is soft drive? is that in the market? US open stringers have said Moya uses PD?

The Soft Drive has been discontinued just a few years ago. You might find them on eb*y now. This guy with the avatar of him standing next to Paradorn Srichaphan has the specs and details of Moya's racquet to a tee. He knows the details.

Hi everybody, I'm really happy you liked the pics and thanks to the guy who pointed out that I was the author. Again I can confirm again that Nadal uses the Duralast strings and there is no cortex, just a line of yellow paint.

Fede, you are the best. Thanks for posting the pics (not JohnCauthen). I see he uses no Cortex and uses Duralast strings at 25 kgs, is it 16 or 17 gauge?. Fede, where is the lead tape located? Do you also have pics of other player's racquets? Please post more. Thanks.

Hi Morrisey, thank you! I don't know exactly the gauge of Nadal strings, but I remember it was 15L.
Lead is not visible from the outside, it should be under the bumper and in the handle, I read should be 15g and 5g respectively.

I posted pics of Tursunov new Wilson here http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=124838 and Canas Wilson here http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=130972 .

Here you can find Gicquel Head Flexpoint pj, really I don't know what model is.

Fede, nice Photos again!

These racquets are Pro Tour 630 with traditional grommets.
To be honest to me it's more likely a Radical Tour. The bumper guard is not one of a PT but of a Radical. It's the same I saw at Grosjeans and Schnyders racket.

Actually it is also the same Grommet that came on the commercial i.Prestige midplus XL here in the U.S.A.
TW sells them here is the link http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageHEAD-HIIPXLG.html
Edit:
Also in the U.S.A HEAD put the same grommet on the Pro Tour 280 and the first year the Pro Tour 630 was out in Europe in 1994 it had the same traditional grommets. The Original Radical Tour Trisys 260, Radical Tour Twin Tube 630 from 1995, Radical Tour TwinTube from 1998, and the Pro Tour 630/280 all are from the same mold.

Here is the Traditional Grommet on a Pro Tour 630.

All I am saying Jura is you can't always go by the grommet to tell whether it is a Radical layup or a Pro Tour layup.

There is also one other clue that leads me to believe it is Pro Tour 630. Jura can you find it?;)

Also with the Prestige Pro, Prestige Tour 600, Prestige Classic 600 you could buy from HEAD traditional Grommets TK10.

Here is a Photo of a set of TK10 Traditional Grommets.

When is this racquet going on sale? Nadal does seem to be hitting his forehand bigger with this racquet. I can't believe how much pace he was hitting his forehand at Monte Carlo just pummeling his opponents.

Just look at the Babolat video, what a awsome racket head speed he has on both wings. It seems as though he has flattened out his shot some on certain shots like short balls. Now on short balls, rafa seem to be flattening his shots out and ripping it with power and pace. but on deep balls he is still hitting his usual monster like topspin. But it seems like he is hitting harder on pretty much every shot as well with this new Cortex. Even his serves look bigger, Federer is missing many more return shots.:D

If his forehand is bigger, it probably has nothing to do with the cosmetics on his racket because he's using the same racket, with an updated paintjob.

BTW, I just reported johncauthen for spamming. I think everyone else should as well. This thread is about Nadal and his non-Cortex APD, lol, not about johncauthen and his neverending "let's talk about my conspiracy theories and my weighted system in racket handle" threads.

Fedace and Tchocky did you miss the photos by Fede. It shows that Nadal's racquet have no Cortex.

Yeah, his grip looks kinda flat, sorta like a HEAD grip but rounder and even flatter. What's the story?

Nothing has changed with Nadal's racquet there is NO mystery. Nadal has not changed racquets he is using the same old AeroPro Drive only it has a nice new paint job for him. Nadal's racquets are without Cortex.

Cortex is NOT a weighting System. It is a VIBRATION FILTERING SYSTEM. For those who are interested in what Cortex really is and what it really does here is a link that gives a proper explanation.

In Tennis Racquets click on Cortex System.

I am sorry to disagree with you, but i saw rafa's racket during the Brachiali match and it is definitely the Cortex. I saw up close shot of the racket and there is definitely Cortex there at the throat area. The video and pics don't lie.;)

Since that time Rafa switched to Cortex

Those pictures were taken at the current tournament in Rome so what you are suggesting is that he switched while playing in a tournament. I maybe wrong but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
