What about Alexandra Stevenson ??!

I heard a lot of interesting things about her and saw some interesting videos .
Will I ever have the chance to see her back in TV again ? Or did she retire ?

Thoughts ?? :)

She still plays quite a few challenger level events. Unfortunately, she hasn't been able to string enough wins together to get her ranking anywhere close to the top 100. Her shoulder injury is a problem.

Plus she is approaching 28 years old and I don't think she can do much more damage on the tour. She will always have that Wimbledon semifinals run back in 1999. :?

I have never even heard of her....

Pretty interesting story. Julius Erving (Dr. J) is her dad. Although she didn't know that for quite some time. Her mom was a journalist in Philly when Dr. J was playing for the Sixers.

She had a dream run to the semis of Wimbledon in '99 (coming out of the qualies), but hasn't been able to replicate that kind on result since. I met her at the Atlanta area challenger last fall, she was nice.

what about her backhand was it really that good ??

She had Pete Fischer as coach while she was still in the jrs, he convinced her to switch from a 2H to a 1H backhand, like he did Sampras, I'm assuming to get the same results. Plus, she's a big girl, so she doesnt move that well. Some people think its better if poor movers use 1H backhands.

She was/is saddled with one of the worst "stage mothers" out there. Read Jon Wertheim's book "Venus Envy" where both she and her mother come off as arrogant and paranoid, an us vs. them attitude.
