Argentina, but I hope Spain.

Nadal is injured and I don't really see how he can win from Nalbandian on a fast court. Nalbandian loves playing Davis Cup at home, this is the reason why he plays tennis.

Ferrer is in a very bad slump last half year and there's no real number two in the Spanish team. Lopez did well last weeks, but he's mentally fragile. Same with Verdasco.

So Argentina 4-1, maybe 3-2 with a dead rubber win for Spain.

what makes it worse for spain is DP and Nalby are playing some great tennis right now. Should be over quickly!

Para que no me tilden de sobre-optimista: alguien comparte mi pronóstico de paliza? 4-1 y la serie terminada el sábado?

If Argentina doesn't have a colossal meltdown like that guy * Guillermo Coria*, I don't see them losing this tie. Even then they still can take it without much trouble. It's been a long time waiting for Argentina.

I just came back from the future, and this is what I saw on the Argentinian streets:

So yes, I think Argentina will win.:)

We are assuming Del Potro will play up to the standard he has during the last part of the season, but if exhaustion and his toe injury make him drop his level the tie could be a closer one than expected.

Anyway, a well rested-up Nalbo and home advantage should be enough for the Argies to prevail.

Today lost to Davy, so better for Argie! Come back and take rest Juan! :)

There is a chance Spain could pull off an upset. Argentina has never won the davis cup and they are bound to choke. and on these fast courts, Lopez and Ferrer is a real threat. and their experience will come thru.

You come to this conclusion based on the fact that Lopez is a choke-proof player. They should let Verdasco play the singles too to be even safer ;)

Lopez yes is good on the fast courts but lately Ferrer hasn't played his well indoors (even though I would agree that he should play singles). So don't bank on him to come through. Lopez is a threat but you don't know what your are going to get from him.

I expect Argentina to win (like everyone here), but you never know what pressure can do with players. Del Potro is still young and this will be the most important moment in his career so far. Nalbandian normally plays well for his own crowd, but he's so unpredictable.

Imagine Argentina lose the first rubber, there will be a lot of pressure on the second player. In that case, the meeting can be very interesting.
Anyway, the first rubber will be very important IMO.

Si estuviese Nadal, yo creo que Feliciano debería jugar y no Ferrer. Yo soy un fanático declarado de Lopez, y al único que quiero conocer acá en Mar del plata :)

Ferrer? Nalbandian´s indoor season wasn´t as good as last year and Del Potro didn´t play great in the last month. You never know. It would be 50/50 with Nadal playing. Argentina is the clear favourite now.
Don't fool yourself! It was 70-30 with Nadal playing ;)
Nalbandian's 2008 indoor season was 14-3. His 2007 season was 13-2. No big difference there ;)

It was bound to be 4-1 with Nadal playing, and it's going to be 4-1 without Nadal as well ;)

"bound to choke"???

JM del Potro, being the youngest and most inexperienced, might be subject to "nerves," but with his winning record this year plus the encouragement of his countrymen, he will most likely rise to the occasion just as he did in the semifinals.

and Nalbanian!? Doesn't have a choking bone in his body!

Nalbandian lost his 2nd rubber in the semis and looked like he swallowed the entire bison the night before.

Nalbandian won Madrid and Paris last year. He made 3rd round and the final this year, which according to some people here (not me) means that he sucked. Basel doesn´t mean a lot to me. He was in better form last year.
The doubles rubber could go either way. I think Nadal would have been the slight favourite against Del Potro and the match against Nalbandian could have gone either way. A 2-0 record when Nalbandian was beating everyone, Federer included, doesn´t mean that Nalbandian will always play like that, otherwise he would be the no.1 in the world. Blake also had a 3-0 head to head against Nadal on hardcourts and Nadal won their last 2 meetings. Nadal is good enough to beat anyone on any surface. I would like to see them play on outdoor hardcourts next year, especially in one of the Slams and see how it goes.
