I hope Fed has an easy win. hopefully Korolev makes a lot of errors and hopefully Federer plays smart and with few errors.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I'm sick & tired about having to read all the time how much Federer 'struggled' in his first AO match, while he was the only one who had a genuine good player as an opponent.

Time for Fed to set things RIGHT.

Haha where did that forehand go? Korolev reminded me of Blake in that first point.

2 serves 2 aces for Fed. And a nice backhand winner.

Seppi, a genuinely good player? The guy lost in first or second round of the last 9 tournaments he played! Let's not get carried away here...

He ended up as #35 on the ATP ranking, not bad at all. Tell me which of the first round opponents at the AO did BETTER then, eh?

Not wanting to rub it in more than necessary, but might you just remember who kicked out Rafa in Rotterdam last year?

And he beat Nadal last year. Look at it this way, the toughest opponent Fed could have gotten would be 33rd seed. He got the 35th seed. Seppi is way way better than the opponents Nadal, Murray, and Djokovic had to face in the first round.

he is 35?? in the world right now. Much better than Frodo Baggins, whom Nadal got to play today.

First time seeing Korolev play. Man, he's got some firepower. Federer could be in for a tough one if he plays well.

Federer had nothing really to do with that break. It was all on Korolev errors, including when he missed his easy volley on game point. I don't think Federer looks focused or very good whatsoever so far. But it's still early.

Yes, Federer has nothing to do with this match. Except winning it, of course

Nice second serve ace down the T.

of course he did. whenever rafa loses, he is either exhausted, has a toe ache, head ache, or herpes.

Or Serena Williams-itis

Fantastic for a fellow of whom his fans claim that he's the most fit player around, no?

DISCLAIMER: I LIKE Rafa - I just happen to dislike silly contradicting arguments, which funnily enough, happen to come from Rafa-fans more often than from the guy himself.

I did see the match, so you're saying Seppi had nothing to do with how badly Nadal played? :-?
Not much indeed but this is not the thread to discuss it, so let's focus on Fed's match now. (I also think that Seppi's level has dropped dramatically in the last 6 months). It doesn't really matter as Fed would have won anyway but the "Seppi :very good player" doesn't sound quite accurate at the moment.
