Yep, my thoughts exactly. I'm sick & tired about having to read all the time how much Federer 'struggled' in his first AO match, while he was the only one who had a genuine good player as an opponent.

Seppi get's no credit for well he played? :-?

He did beat Rafa last year in Rotterdam, his record wasn't any better at that time.

He ended up as #35 on the ATP ranking, not bad at all. Tell me which of the first round opponents at the AO did BETTER then, eh?

Not wanting to rub it in more than necessary, but might you just remember who kicked out Rafa in Rotterdam last year?

And he beat Nadal last year. Look at it this way, the toughest opponent Fed could have gotten would be 33rd seed. He got the 35th seed. Seppi is way way better than the opponents Nadal, Murray, and Djokovic had to face in the first round.

Federer had nothing really to do with that break. It was all on Korolev errors, including when he missed his easy volley on game point. I don't think Federer looks focused or very good whatsoever so far. But it's still early.

Not much indeed but this is not the thread to discuss it, so let's focus on Fed's match now. (I also think that Seppi's level has dropped dramatically in the last 6 months). It doesn't really matter as Fed would have won anyway but the "Seppi :very good player" doesn't sound quite accurate at the moment.
