Everyone is always discussing polys, i just wanted to know what is the over all consensus. I cant include all of them but ill list the ones that seem to be favored among these threads

Personally I like bb alu power, but i do use alot of cyberflash and big ace which i think are great also

I used to think Alu power was the best poly but it was too harsh on the shoulders. then i tried Proline 2 and found it to be much softer and had plenty of spin and power and offered pretty much everything i was looking for.

If money were no object, I would have like 5 reels of ALU power stocked up and restring every other day. However, the next best thing is Silverstring. So if your looking for the best no matter what, ALU power does if for me. But if your looking for the best overall string, cost included, I think silverstring is the best.

no comparison really, big ace is much more soft and powerful, ALU is much more control and spin, i prefer Cyberflash(very similar to ALU) with Big ace in the crosses

I second this, bb offers more spin and control than big ace, how do you compare bb alu with cyberflash? so far i find cyberflash stiffer with less spin, less bite, and less power i need further testing before i come to a final conclusion

well i use 18g cyberflash at 2 lbs tighter tension then ALU so i found all things extremely similar with ALU edging out CF in power and comfort when frechly strung, and CF edging out ALU in control and spin, but as i played more, it became apparent that CF maintained tension much better than ALU.

overall:

in the first 5 hours, if they were equally priced, i would take ALU (but CF is one fourth the price so i would still choose it even if i planned on cutting out every 5 hours) but i play until it breaks, which is about 2-3 weeks (i would say 15-20 hours) and by 10-15 hours CF is clearly a better string

I recommend someone to try this pair together since they liked CF so well, but needed a durable, softer cross.
I have some CF I haven't tried yet, but think I need to give this pair a go myself.

I know tension is supposed to be dropped when using multi, but I don't drop tension with BA micro.
When using CF, what would you suggest tension wise as far as dropping or compared to BA?

well, when using full jobs, i prefer radically different tensions between the two (low 50s for CF, mid/high 60s for BA) but in my Tour 90, i found i prefer the hybrid at 53/57

My concern is always price since I restring so often. Signum pro is one of the most crisp polys i've tried. I don't think the mainstream name brand polys are worth it.

Out of curiousity what makes big ace superior? imo its a solid string but by no means the greatest, is it trend following or does big ace have characteristics that make it superior?

Big Ace is soft but very lively .. packs good power and overall feel is good.. yes, there are better strings for more power, softer polys, ect. but IMO it's a nice overall string .. I use it to hybrid with Blue Gear ,which is awesome for spin but a bit stiff, like most polys.. if I didn't desire the crazy spin Blue Gear gives out, I would string with Big Ace ,full job(but tighter)..
Big Ace plays a bit like Luxilon Timo ,but cost a lot less... plus the color is cool if you like RED,if not the platinum white,or yellow are the other choice... and it's made in Germany, I tend to trust German and Japanese made products over others, just like in cameras, cars and tools..

Luxilon is a good string but what they are charging for their strings is a rip off, comparing to what Big Ace and Blue Gear is..

Pretty much, Germany is the mecca of co-polys. I don't know the story behind it, if they are all made in the same factory, but it seems like every nice hitting poly is German.

Well maybe if they made it in germany, they could engineer it to play awesome throughout its life, not just the first 2 hours lol.

definitely it's the overall factor with Big Ace.

Not harsh, but still precise
durable, and maintains tension
has nice playability and reasonable power
all for a nice price.

cool i still have a few sets, ill give it the same crosses that i have with my timo see how it compares. i just remember it didnt hold tension like everyone claims that it does, but i did think it was solid

TiMO goes dead way too fast: 6 hours or less. It's a waste of money unless you like quickies.

I have to a agree durability isnt great, i just have way better feel with it than a cyberflash or BA

Maybe this needs to be drilled down further?

- Best overall poly for a full bed
- Best overall poly for a hybrid

(and you can even break those 2 further down to a poly that gets cut out and a poly that plays till it breaks)

I love ProLine II 1.15mm. I am tempted to say it is the best poly I've ever used and I've use a lot of strings.
