Does Nike have to much money?
Why are they not releasing Roger's gear that he wears on court???
Are they waiting for Roger to retire. Have they not heard of striking while the iron is hot. Most of the gear that he wears is available to buy in a slight variation on what he wears when he gets on court. Have nike no business sense, dont they realise that they can make much more money out of Roger if they release his on court apparel, there is also a demand for his gear. Im talking about his RF monogramed shirts, wristbands and his jackets. Its not so hard if we have a look at FILA with its becker gear, adidas with its Lendl/Edberg gear and nike with its Agassi range.

Becuse people will still buy their stuff and i'm sure Fed would want to still have his own unique clothing, instead of being copied by thousands around the world.

Because they don't want to feed the *******s who want to dress exactly like him and think they can play like him when he wasn't being beatn against the big guns. Sounds like anyone? It sounds like you.

I dont think nike care if people dress like him, i would think that they would want people to buy his stuff and dress like him.

That way they can make more money out of Roger.

because not everyone is a fed fan....they might like the vapors but dont want the stupid RF symbol on it or like a polo but dont want the symbol on it

I would say 90% of the people who buy the clothing don't care if there is a logo on it or that it is authentic RF. its not the "RF" line anyway..

i think only ppl on this board and a few otehrs know that fed has those symbols and special stuff done to his shoes and clothing so i guess they wouldnt care.... like wat jim a said above

They are using Federer to market the Nike brand, not specific kits. Federer wears a different kit every tournament he plays these days. No way Nike wants to mass market that many sku's.

I think Nike has realized .... through massive research, that non-*******s outnumber *******s out in the real world, and they prefer NOT to have the gayish RF logo on their gear...

Plus Im pretty sure Fed just prefers to have some unique gear, as some have already stated before

That's true. Would you want to wear a shirt that says RF on it? That has 'poser' written all over it.

I completely agree with this and most all of the responses.
HOWEVER, those damn chest pockets on retail versions of Nadal's new polo shirts are extraordinarily lame.

I don't need a Rafa bull symbol, or even the white sleeves on the one he wore at Key Biscayne Masters this year (although I would prefer them), but dammit...lose the chest pockets!

(ok, rant over :) )

I bought a blank white polyester shirt, and put my innitials on it with a logo i made like the rf one but with my innitials and ironed it on

I think the single F looks quite sexy sometimes..

Has it ever occured to you Roger might want to be unique. Didn't he pull the all black, because nobody expected it. Roger probably wants to be able to play tennis and not see nine other people wearing his clothing, like what happens with a lot of other nike clothing. I point you to the US Open last year where I saw two people playing in the same exact Nike shirt. I forget who but there was a blog on it also. Fed is an all time legend, let him have his own clothing.

On the sneakers and hats...sneakers are cool but nobody sees your feet as much and hats..well how long does a hat stay on in tennis. I don't know how some pros do it, but mine go flying off usually midway 1st set.

Agreed, I like the bull symbol as well, I was just using it as an example of something unique that it not a necessity for me and to emphasize how much those retail chest pockets annoy me (although at least for now, their presence has saved me some $$)

I completely agree. The polo is fine, except for the pocket. I also wish they would make a crew version of that shirt.

I am a fed fan but not an obsessed fan and I would never buy Federer's clothing just to look like him, and if I was to buy one of his shirts I would never but one without the RF symbol, I mean that is what makes it special, I buy 5 Dollar Walmart clothing for my matches.

truth be told, there might be something that Fed negotiated in his contract saying they won't release all of his stuff...

best answer itt,

marketing every individual item of clothing a pro player wears, eg: fed/nadal/etc, would NOT be economically efficient.

Yes, they do have too much. But this is all part of their advertising plan.

They're just keeping the consumers in place. When enough consumers notice what the ros are wearing, they'll release it in stores, and then make tons of money.

But of course, they would get the same effect if they just released it now and consumers were advertising it to others.

I think they should release more of the things that the pros are using though. They look a lot nicer than some of the crap that they try to sell to us.

There are all kinds of possibilities, maybe Fed likes his stuff unique, he's at a position to do so.

Or, because his apparel are unique, he can get more money for it when he signs and sells it for his charity. This way we won't see fake "Federer signed shirts" popping up on the bay.

u can get a lot of the stuff fed uses. nadl, on the other hand gets tons of new shoe styles, designs, and colorways that will probably never be released to the public. fed has only two i've seen in which they aren't to the public.
