Which current top player is universally liked?

By universally liked, I mean that by and large, people like this player on many levels - on court attitude, playing style, off court attitude etc. I really doubt any of the top 4 players qualify since it seems that for every fan of Fed/Nadal/Djoker/Murray on this board , there is an anti fan. So who would you say is a universally liked player.

My picks:

1) Stan the man
2) Safin
3) Verdasco

Baghy, of course. Gasquet is pretty well liked as well. I don't there's much of a backlash against Davy (AFAIK)?

i have never seen anyone talk smack against Marcos and Tipsy...

Agassi seems to cause consensus too...

Some good names in there although technically Agassi and JCF are not 'current top players'.

Gasquet and Safin can be either great or frustrating to watch. At least Safin though has a great off court personality. His sense of humor is awesome.

Really? You have any proof? I've got some proof that Nadal's Freak is actualy a closet fan of Federer's, but I'll keep it for myself for now...

Most of these players that are mentioned have their detractors. Personally I wish Davydenko would retire and I am no big fan of Safin or Gasquet.

I really think the answer to the original question is no player is really universally liked. There is always a group of people who do not like any particular player. The closest may be Baghdatis but I know people don't like him because of his the perceived view that he his wasting his talent.

Personally I like Roddick, Murray, Moya, Dent, and del Potro out of the current players. Out of the older players, I like Sampras, Agassi, Edberg, Wilander, McEnroe, and Henman.

To be honest, I find the players above are those who I have NO reason to dislike. I like watching them play and have them in the draws but I can't say I was upset when they lost.:neutral:

I don't know why everyone loves Safin though. I think he's ridiculously overrated. I like his interview but I feel lucky that I've never been one of his fans. I'd be gutted if I cheered for him just to see him choke away the maches in regular besis.:evil:
