Interesting Article "Why I Don’t Like to See Nadal At #1"

Oh, so there are rules against trolling as Nadal_Freak says! Lying is not nice BP ;).
Which is why you'll be banned.

According to you, anyone who makes a negative comment about Nadal is "trolling". Sorry, that's not the way it works. I'm making a valid argument which you have no clue about since you have never played a tournament with a wood racquet, so you call it "trolling". This is due to your own ignorance. :(

And yes, you're trolling. You're delusional if you think you're not. Although by your posts, you seem to be pretty delusional. You think you know more about tennis than Nadal, LMAO!

Maybe to you. Some people think that in the big picture Nadal is not that important. How do you feel about that? You see, it goes both ways.

In this post where you quoted me, you basically implied that Gasquet is more important in the tennis world than Nadal, if that's not trolling, then what is? Apart from your continued Nadal bashing in each and every thread, of course. So yes, you're indeed a troll. Oh, and surprise, surprise, most of the people in here agree that your posts are idiotic, so yeah I wonder who is trolling, you or me?

Um..when did I ever say that? Please show me. Or are you going to fabricate another post again and attributed as one of mine? :-?

I do know that I've been playing tennis for over twice as long as Nadal has and I have far more experience in playing with a wood racquet than Nadal has. Those facts I can't change.

And again, whether or not you think someone is important is a matter of opinion. The President of your country is probably more important to you than he is to me.

haha, I didnt knew this post would get so many replys in such a short time, just a couple of hours and it on page 3 already. BTW, I am an Agassi fan.

I think the article has some valid points. Im not saying Nadal`s doesnt deserve the #1 ranking (I dont think the articles´s writer said or implied that), but I do agree that I would like to see a more attacking-agressive oriented style player at the #1 spot.

I guess it all has to do with the way you play and aproach the game. At least for me as a recreational player, winning is not everything theres is to tennis. Its the way you play the game the most important thing IMO. Can you blame Nadal at all? Of course not, if he makes millions moonballing his opponents to death, why change a thing?...does he deserves to be the #1 player in the world?, of course he does, as long as he keeps winning matches he deserves the points and the ranking. Do I like to see a player like that at the #1 spot?... no, I dont like that at all.

Hello

Maybe Nadal wanted to attack Djokovic badly but since this latter made so many UEs he saved his energy for Madrid that is a possibility too :)

Anyway review FO final 2008 ...you will see how Nadal attacked Federer...

I'm not fabricating anything, you have said that you know what Nadal can or cannot do with a wooden racquet, so you're implying that you know Nadal's game better than him, since I have never heard Nadal say anything arrogant like "if tennis was played with (insert racquet here) I would dominate". And he is the #1 player in the world. However, you, a nobody, have the nerve to say that Nadal's game would suck with a wooden racquet!

And I don't have to show anything, the post is there for all to see. I said gasquet, in the big picture of tennis, is not that important, because in a few years nobody will talk about him, other than his fans. Then you came and said maybe Nadal is the one who is not important, implying that Gasquet is more important in the big picture than Nadal, a laughable statement. Try twisting your words all you want now, it won't change a thing!

The bolded part is opinion? .

yes

pusher from manacor is my opinion: see how easy it is to be a jerk and have the reason?

So then that means his knees crumbling in 2 years is a fact, according to you? .

no.

man you suck at logics very hard... a flaw in reasoning like that must be of brain underdevelopment origin...

the bolded is opinions, and the rest is predictions (obviously biased by my wishfull thinking), therefore remains withing the boundaries of personal views and opinions...

And then you tell me that saying that the 23rd player, which outside of tennis aficionados is practically unknown, is not that important, is just my opinion, lol! You my friend, need to see the bigger picture.

wich one? the one where you confuse your opinions with facts and cant see the problem with that? i have seen that. thats i why im trying within the limits of my English to instruct you on the basic principles of resoning - 4th grade subjects... you know!

My reasoning is not what sucks, what sucks is your way of expressing things, predictions are opinions by definition, hence if you said the bolded part is opinion, the non-bolded part would be facts, logically. Also, saying that Gasquet is not that important in the big picture is a fact, not my opinion, which you clearly fail to understand because of your biasness. Most of the general public doesn't even know who he is. Only people who have a certain interest in tennis beyond being a casual fan. Hence in the big picture of tennis, he's suspension doesn't matter much, fact.

So you're repeating 4th grade?

Of course Nadal is a good player. But I can guarantee that he couldn't beat Federer with a wood racquet on any surface.

Get back to me after you've won an open tennis tournament with a wood racquet. Does that mean you're not a good player? I'm sure you're pretty good with your Tecnifibre modern racquet and poly strings.

too bad we dont use wood racquets and nadal is number 1, cry a river and deal with it

erm... now you can even distinguish a fact per se from a prediction!?

here: definition of prediction:

Main Entry: pre·dict
Pronunciation: \pri-ˈdikt\
Function: verb
Etymology: Latin praedictus, past participle of praedicere, from prae- pre- + dicere to say — more at diction
Date: 1609
transitive verb
: to declare or indicate in advance ; especially : foretell on the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason
intransitive verb
: to make a prediction

man. you are one thick head!

that is your opinion. let me post you the definition of Opinion just so you get in context:

opinion (from MW)

Main Entry: opin·ion
Pronunciation: \ə-ˈpin-yən\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Latin opinion-, opinio, from opinari
Date: 14th century
1 a: a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter b: approval, esteem
2 a: belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge b: a generally held view
3 a: a formal expression of judgment or advice by an expert b: the formal expression (as by a judge, court, or referee) of the legal reasons and principles upon which a legal decision is based

So you're repeating 4th grade?

no but you should... anyone can see that!

Now give it a rest. enjoy your Nadal matches and his impressive achievements and leave me alone... im getting tired of teaching you for free. next time ill have to envoice you!

Predictions are opinions too by definition, they're just different because they're opinions about what may happen in the future. Nonetheless, they are still opinions. Keep failing.

No you're the one who keep failing, because when I quoted the match you hadn't made the clarification that those are your predictions, since you said the bolded part was opinion, hence I can logically conclude that the non-bolded part, according to you, are facts, which they are not, and hence my response was fully justified. You still fail. Oh and be careful, BP has told me that changing the content of other user posts can get you banned. Or maybe that only applies to people he/she doesn't like? ;)

Since when does Federer use a an eastern grip? I'm sure on some shots he may switch to that, but he most definitely uses a semi western.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXcsblS3Jl4

I agree with these guys on that.

Nadal's game is not just about extreme topspin. He's also got very good point condtruction, defense, stamina etc. And as mentioned before, he adapts as he needs to. So you may argue how he'd get less spin, but I don't think that would be a major drawback to him as you can get more than adequate spin with a more conservative grip.

Point is, everyone can use the same equipment if they wished. Babolat racquets and polys don't automatically give you an advantage over the rest (look at Roddick is Fed's prag).

what people overlook about nadal's extreme topspin is that the ball's still going as fast a regular pro hits it, but with the spin added. that's gotta be hard to take. he's next-gen clay courter, it's not just the spin it's the power. on clay he's the modern day borg, the similarity in his physical superiority and extreme spin is, i think, clear for all to see.

i'd love to see a couple of matches between fed and nadal, each using the other's equipment. obviously it will never happen, but i'm fascinated by how much difference it would really make to the pros to be given a different tour level stick. i suspect they'd adapt very quickly.

I disagree, I think it would be something major in his game that would hurt him. His spin (especially being a left) makes it harder for people to hit it in their 'zone' as it's usually above the chest, and makes a lot of people shank and hit it late. Also he'd get less of those amazing dippers/angles that he comes up with. With that said though, I still think he'd be great as he's an amazing athlete AND I do believe he's much more than just a baseliner. He continues to show more weapons as we see more of him. To me though his biggest weapon is his spin that puts people on the defensive.

And aside from the Federer grip issue, I stated everything else you did:

And yes, take away his spin and he wouldn't be the same player - no doubt, 100%. He'd still be really good due to his athletic ability, but his shots wouldn't hurt opponents as much. So many times people have commented on his racquet (the size of the grip, the weight of the racquet), saying how it allows him to generate so much spin. With that said though, most players have one thing that if you took away they wouldn't be the same. And everyone has a choice when choosing a racquet.

2005: "Hmmm, so the little *******o is pretty good on clay. Allright, allright, but the All Mighty will soon figure you out."

2006: "What did I tell ya?! The All Mighty prevails on the dirt! Sure it wasn't a win at the big one, but it's a start. And he stills rules supreme on everything else. But just out of curiousity, what kind of racquet is that?"

2007: "Okay, fudge it, he can have clay. But your spinny banana racquet ain't ever gonna do **** on grass and hard. No siree bob.

I love how the thread has continued to stay way off-topic after I recommended it be closed about a day and a half ago. seriously, whatever. Nadal may not have the prettiest game, but it's good enough for #1 and 6 Slams. He gets my respect for that.

When you say it goes both ways you are already comparing the two. And people who say Nadal is not that important in tennis are clearly delusional and bitter, like you :D.
Umm...hello? I guess English in not your best language? "Both ways" means some people may think Gasquet is not that important while others may think Nadal is not that important. "It goes both ways."
