"In an exclusive interview with BBC's Inside Sport, Agassi, who won eight Grand Slams, said: "Andy's a multiple slam winner, I think he'll win more than just one and he'll do it on at least a couple of surfaces."

Agassi managed to sneak in a little ego booster there - "couple of surfaces." Not all four like himself, of course :)

^ He said "at least a couple" and since there's only three Grand Slam surfaces... Interesting.

Murrays game looks good on hard and grass

i question it on clay, only because it needs to improve on clay imo

hard is where hell win slams, dont see him winning anywhere else tbh

Multiple Surfaces? Not so sure about that. Though Murray I think rack up some Hardcourt slams eventually like the AO and USO

Well, let's do it already, Andy, and stop talking about it. You're only 12 months younger than Rafa.

If he doesn't win one by year's end, he suddenly goes from being a guy everyone is talking about because of his potential to a choker who can't win the big one and nothing more than unrealized potential.

Interesting. I hope Agassi knows what he's talking about. I really hope Murray wins some slams in the future, but first he has to become a serious contender in the slams. Let's hope he wins his first slam this year, he certainly deserves it.

Agassi needs to get his facts straight or learn to speak english. Andy is not a multiple slam winner. He maybe in the future and if Agassi knows something about the future he should use the the word will and not is. I respect Agassi's on court and off court achievments but he needs to learn to comunicate better. Myabe he would have raised billions instead of millions for his charity. Just kidding.

His game is great for grass, even the slow grass we have today. Don't really see him being a threat to Nadal, or top 4 in any given season, on clay. He hits flat, uses the other person's pace to redirect, good serve, etc, things that don't necessarily guarantee wins on clay. But all great things on grass. Add to that great racket skills, very good volleys, one of the best slice backhands on the tour, and compact strokes/great returns, I'd be surprised if he doesn't win Wimbledon once. Who knows, maybe they'll even speed it up a bit to give their hometown boy an edge (this would help Fed as well). He should make it to at least the semi's this year and if he's 3rd seed, that's good for Fed, cuz Murray doesn't have the same mental damage going on with Nadal so maybe he'll knock him out in the semis. If not this year, very soon.

Quote: Andy's a multiple slam winner
You seem to be the one struggling with language. Agassi was making a point saying it the way he did, as if it's a foregone conclusion, he's emphasizing the confidence he has in Andy's abilities. Imagine a parent taking their 10 yo aside and saying "you're a winner" even though he hasn't won anything.

And John Mcenroe said Roddick would win more slams in 2003 (after he had won the USO)
That was a very reasonable thing to say at the time. It was before Fed became a monster and it seemed like a lock that Roddick would win a Wimbledon or two.

Your physical and mental faculties have failed you. Did you not read the "Just kidding" part? I fully comprehend what Agassi was stating.

Andre is just being nice since he is doing an interview for a british channel Murray can only win on hardcourts imo and the AO is too slow for him so only at the USO.

Whether he is seeded 3 or 4 is irrelevant for the draw -now if he was seeded 2 that would be different, but it is not possible.

Personally I think Murray is capable of winning slams.

I also think Agassi is capable of telling the BBC what they want to hear.

Good one! I love it, finally someone caught on. The Just Kidding part you added is great. I am not annoyed one bit and I love the good natured joking around!

Nice try. The "just kidding" was for the rant about his charity work. Two posts down you don't say "I was joking!" You say:

I was talking about Murray being seeded 3rd benefitting Fed. Don't the 2 and 3 seeds always go in same half of draw?

If you go back and read the original post the Just kidding part is in reference to my entire post as it is clearly a joke of a post. I don't know you but if Andre is your personal hero, I am not trying to offend him. I simply latched on to part of what he said and took it out of context to make a harmless joke.
My 6 year old daughter would understand exactly what Andre was conveying.
The following post was used to show which part of Andre's quote I was using to make the remark because I guess the joke was not obvious to some.

So you don't think he was telling the BBC what they want to hear?

Did you see the interview? The guy gave his opinion on Murray - if you want to think he lied about his real views to please the BBC then that's up to you.

I appreciate that your disdain for Murray's game is completely at odds with Andre's view of things and it's better for you if you think that really, deep down, Andre thinks Murray is talentless pusher but just won't say so because he's such a nice guy. Like I said - you believe that if you want to.

I don't think Murray is a talentess pusher he is very talented I happen just not to like him or his game.

What i mean is that nothing is certain. For all we know, Murray could pull a Coria, give away a great opportunity, and then never recover (well at least Coria made two MS finals in 05 but was done at the slams), and im trying to say if you dont believe me, ask Roddick

10-11 months and i think Andre went on Inside Sport and he just had to say nice things on that british based show, i don't think he's being realistic.

On multiple surfaces!

I always said that guy Agassi knows a thing or 2 about tennis:wink:

Way to go Andre!

how you feeling buddy?
Not a horrible prediction. He didn't say that Murray will not win any majors with 100% certainty; he said Murray would not be winning anything "for awhile". It took 3 years and nearly 4 months for Andy to win his first major title.
