That's great. Kids nowadays should consider themselves very lucky. They have access to the internet, so it's much easier to obtain a origami diagram. When I was younger I only had the library at my disposal which only had one book on origami as I lived in a very small town. In fact I saved up money and told the library that I lost it and bought the book that way.
Here's another one that I made.
Now that I've familiarized myself with the folds again I'm going to start to trying more complex ones.

I started by just picking up a book at a bookstore one summer...and got hooked, especially with the variations you get by using different kinds of paper. I did find many online diagrams, but I still go back to that first book. All my pieces are at school...I'll try to take a picture when we go back.

Lifted...there is special 'origami/folding' paper you can buy (usually in craft stores or online), but I have fun using different wrapping papers, or even newspaper. Anything that folds well and looks cool to you will work!

I like folding/hands on/craftsy stuff, although I do a lot less of the artsy stuff nowadays, I like to solder and tinker with electronics more.
As far as origami, i loved it when I was younger, but never got to the advanced stuff, as I had the hardest time figuring out WTF they were trying to illustrate with some of their directions.
(No instructions, just picture flows). Some of the arrows here, "tada" instructions were mind boggling.

Yeah, I love moneygami. I sometimes leave tips in restaurants using it. Some of these I have never seen before though. I'll have to see if I can find how to make some of them. I know how to make a shirt, a spider, a scorpion, and a horseshoe crab.
Can you do some of the complex stuff? I have one of John Montroll's books. That guy is a guru.

Yeah, I've seen some directions and I'm like what the hell? How did they go from here to here?

Thank you for posting this. I have been looking for this book for a while now. I just never new the name of it. I saw it in a book store about 2 years ago and I haven't been able to find it since. I anxious to try some of those out. Have you done any and do they really fly?
