All this doom and gloom about ratings are taking over.
Here is a thread to have a bit of fun.

My tennis habit would be wiping the bottom of my shoes with my hands on important points. its pretty gross.

I'm a walking display of weird twitches and mannerisms.

Let's see.

Before each serve, I kick the toe of my right foot into the ground to start my service motion.

Before each serve -- now this is before the toe tap -- I tap the ground with my racket in the spot my toss should bounce if I don't hit it. If it is a big point, I will draw an X with my racket. On clay, the X will be in the right spot the next time I go to serve, which shows I am lining up in the exact same spot. I think this is cool.

I talk during points. There's the usual stuff -- "Bounce it!" -- but there are some weird ones too. Like a lob goes up: "You! No wait, I'm here, I'll get it. You stay there."

I tug at the bottoms of my skirts a lot, as I am certain my butt is hanging out and no one told me.

I need help.

A good tennis buddy once told me that I stick out my tongue during the service motion, a la Mike Jordan. Don't know if I still do it or not, but it must have looked strange.

Tapping my wedding ring against the throat of my racquet while waiting to return serve.

Maybe I should be putting that nervous energy into my footwork...

I just do a double tap on the ground and sink into my ready position

Today i noticed that i always wipe my shoulder on my forehand even when i'm not sweaty, kinda like what roddick does with his pulling of the shirt.

I spend too much time practicing shadow strokes and footwork in between points. For example, I will use the cross-over steps to return to my starting position. Or when my opponent is retrieving a ball to serve, I will practice my own service motion.

I am just like that guy in Goodfellas who says everything twice. When the ball is "back", I will say "Back back" or if its out, I will say "it's out, it's out"... I just can't stop myself....

I have this friend who knocks his shoes with his racquet like they do at the French Open, but in our case, their is no clay to knock off our shoe, but he does think he is cool when he does it...

When serving, I bounce the ball behind the baseline with my Racquet (4) times, then I step up to the baseline to serve, and bounce it (3) times with my tossing hand, then I begin the service motion.....

I always turn my racquet so that the same side of the racquet
hits FH's each time. I get used the grip a certain way and it
feels weird for me when i turn the racquet and hit w/the other
side.

back when I was playing tournaments, if the match was
around lunch time, I'd bring a big loaf of French bread and
eat it at every changeover. I'd usually be done eating the
whole loaf by the end of the match unless the match finished
quickly.

I can't play with my wedding ring on as it taps against the frame. Conversely I must wear a watch, and even though I'm right-handed I wear it on my right wrist.

I yell Cmon to my opponents like Hewitt does. but not as Often. and i found out that this ticks off my opponents.... so I am not sure what to do.... I want to have good manners on court but i don't play as well if i don't get pumped up for the match.........................sigh..............

I frequently spin my racquet in my hands right before I hit certain balls. I never noticed how much until a friend pointed it out to me. I think it's a nervous habit.

Some times I talk to myself during a match. I usually repeat the same thing over and over to calm myself down - "just drills". I'm guilty of making my matches more than what they are and have to remind myself to play like I do in our weekly drills.

This is a problem I have a hard time getting over. At training I play at a much much higher standard than when playing matches, even my fundamentals break down when im nervous, I start hitting forehands in a horizontal movement and not low to high, and my serve turns into a pile of rubbish, but at training, all very very consistant! Its weird, so I always have to think to myself to play like I do normally.

I have to have a baseball cap, regardless of the weather, or if I am playing indoors or at night, no cap, no play...

The Dunlop arrow on my butt cap must be pointing upwards when playing forehands on the first set, then reversed the second set and so on. If I'm using a Wilson, the top 3 prongs of the W will face forwards on my forehand for the first set and then reversed for the second set and so on.

I can relate, just a comfort thing. I do turn it backwards indoors or when it's overcast, looks better than a headband on me.

I'm a ball-sniffer too. When that smell hits my brain, it's like a shot of adrenaline. I'm ready for battle.

I can't play in a hat. All I can think about is how hot the top of my head is.

I don't like to play doubles in a visor indoors. It restricts my peripheral vision. I wear one outdoors because I have no other way to deal with the sun.

I must have a bandana. I cannot play if even one strand of hair gets in my eyes.

Lucky for me, i keep my cellphone very close to me. I call 911 and my Lawyer at the same Time-you can get as much as $150,000 in damages with physical violence........lol:):)

Thats why you cant go around getting in fights because people like you will try to sue.

On the rare occasion my bro and I can get out and play, it's a given that the person in town as a guest gets first right of refusal to sniff the freshly opened can. It's never refused.

I know some people that always want to serve with the same ball again if they just served an ace or hit a big winner. But I've always been kinda the opposite. When I win a point, I always select a different ball to serve the next point, in order to keep the balls circulating and wearing evenly.

However when I lose a point, I keep choosing that same ball to serve with again until I win another point. I think it's a subconscious effort to make that stupid ball work overtime until it learns how to win a point for me. Crazy is...

when i serve, i must bounce the ball with my left hand until it feels "right", usually around 4 or 5 bounces.

if i'm returning and someone serves into the net, i almost always finish my swing.

i never wear my tennis shoes until i'm on the court and i take them off when i leave.

i have a certain way of holding each one of my racquets.

when returning, i always have the foot on the outside of the court closer to the net.

i'm 5 on first serves and 3 on second...

if my grip feels pretty slippery and i'm using tournagrip, i slightly spit on my dominant hand. i found it helped me grip better.

I played dub's a few weeks ago and one of the guys on to other team keep walking over to the fence and spitting and i noticed it was dark. i asked him about it and he said it was snuff and he could not play with out having a dip in... I started thinking how i could make him swallow it during the point...

I share a couple of these with you guys.

I have to hold my racquet the same every time - my grip has to be the same spot because it feels really awkward if I'm not holding it right.

For serves, I bounce the ball once with my toss hand. I basically drop the ball...hit it once with my stick and then catch it. Same for first and 2nd serves.

I always wear a hat, indoors or out.

I do this occasionally, it works really well if my hands get sweaty and I do not have a towel.

Before every return of serve I tap the ground with my racket twice.
All the rackets in my bag MUST have the same sides facing up.

On second serve, I cannot say anything...I cannot say the score, or say 'second serve', otherwise I will double fault.

I will probably double fault ANYWAY, but if I say something,....
