Close between McEnroe and Edberg. My vote goes to McEnroe.
Somewhere there's a video of Sampras and Mac playing doubles together in Davis Cup against Switzerland. (I wonder if the young Fed was watching?)

How's that for a stellar doubles team?
Pete and Mac went on to win it a terrific comeback from two sets down: 6-7(5) 6-7(7) 7-5 6-1 6-2.

I think this is a no brainer... there was no better doubles player than McEnroe in his time. No only did he have perhaps the best pair of hands ever in the game... he had a unique understanding for the game of doubles.
His partner Peter Fleming (yes I know... who...????) I think once said Mac could win with a fire hydrant as a partner. Hmmmm.. Peter you pretty much were one.
Ah, Mick, you swiped my answer. McEnroe was the greatest doubles player I've ever seen (haven't seen 'em all, of course), but I only have so many hours left in my life, and I'd rather spend them with people of the sort Edberg appears to be.i would not want John McEnroe or Jimmy Connors as a doubles partner -- EVER.
Can you imagine what would happen if you failed (to put away an easy shot)? they would crucify you with their words and body languages.
Stefan Edberg would be my first choice and Pete Sampras would be my second choice because they aren't as temperamental as John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors. Some people say Edberg is Mr. Nice guy.
My doubles partner is whoever answers my question:
