Tried M: Maxim Touch, X: Black Magic

I'm not a poly guy, but I had half a set of Genesis Black Magic and decide to try it out in a hybrid, just for grins and giggles.

I have a Fischer M Pro One 98 (SL).

I stung the mains with Maxim Touch 17 at 58 (lock-out), and I strung the crosses with Black Magic 17 at 56 (lock-out, obviously).

I liked it! My kick serve seems to have more "junk" on it than normal. And the overall stringbed felt nice and soft.

As expected, the Black Magic was notching up the MT pretty good in just an hour.

I don't know that I"m ready to go with this as my setup. I've been really interested to try Pro Supex Big Ace Micro.

Can anyone compare BAM with Black Magic 17? I understand BAM to be stiffer, but it's thinner, so I wonder if I might get a soft feeling out of it?

I have not tried the Black Magic, which has been sitting in my drawer for several months now.

But Big Ace Micro is one of the softest polys out there, so if Black Magic is somehow soter than Big Ace Micro, it cannot be by much.

Great to know, thanks! I think I will probably go ahead and take a shot on a reel of this stuff. I don't stock much poly for my customers, but it'd be nice to have some, and I'll probably use it a bit myself now.
