When I went on the computer this morning I saw this video on comingsoon.net. I really liked it. I've seen the other mortal combat movies when I was a kid and I liked them but adding this real world modern day touch makes it pretty sweet.
And it's been confirmed that this video was directed as pitch to the WB for a revamp of the Mortal Kombat series and so far reaction has been great so a movie might be in the works.

Besides peoples names that had nothing to do with Mortal Kombat. Jonny Cage was the only one that even had the right back story.

You mean Goro? If I remember correctly there were 2 four armed guys. Think it was Goro and Kintaro or somethin.

That's right. Goro. He was cool, I remember he was impossible to beat as the last boss, my cousin and I spent hours trying to figure him out. Awesome to play as, though. You can't go wrong with 4 arms.

I thought the first one was an ok movie. Not great but what you expect from a video game movie. Second one was so bad but I still watch it whenever its on. Its one of those so bad its funny movies.
None of the back story was right. Jax and Sonya are US Special Forces not cops. Reptile is a raptor from another realm. Baraka is a nomad from Outworld not what they said he was. Mortal Kombat was about saving Earth from an Outworld invasion not to see who was a good fighter.
So with no mention of the different realms or the invasion from Shao Khan it doesnt work. It has nothing to do with the game.They only used the names and the video games name thats it. Fans of the games are not gonna be happy with it.

i like how they're going in a different direction. looks like a 'darker' movie like Dark Knight. they already covered the video game story line in the first movie. looks like they're keeping the tournament part of the story at least.

Yes, I agree. Transformers, GI Joe, Karate Kid, Mortal Kombat, Dark Knight...... Hollywood pretty much ruin my childhood to teenage...nice.

Then why call it Mortal Kombat? Im not gonna make a movie called My Little Ponies and then have Ninja Turtles everywhere.
They have run out of original ideas or are to scared to try. But I guess its the populations fault. If they feed us garbage and people keep paying for it you can expect more garbage.

dur...why wouldn't they call it mortal kombat? it's no coincidence that their names are scorpion, sub-zero, sonya etc.

I just saw this. I have to say...that was AWESOME! I really hope this gets made. Looks sweet.
@the people saying it doesnt keep with the original - lets be real here not too many people who played the game even know the backstory that in depth. I know fanboys pretty much exist just to complain ab stuff like that - but get over it. It looks sick and the new direction is a lot better and simpler than some of the sci fi elements of the original.

It just makes no sense. Why use the names when it has nothing to do with the game? I am not really complaining and nothing will come from this because hollywood sucks and they would rather make Transformers 3: The quest to rip people off.
the alternate universe concept is used quite a bit in the comic book/anime world, isn't it? what's with all the hatin'?

Not really purist more confused. If I see Mortal Kombat there are certain things that need to be in place. Taking a name like that and then having nothing to do with is just wrong.

agreed yes it looks cool but mortal combat has always been a battle of 2 worlds it looks really cool and if a movie was made i'd go see it but the back story of sub zero and scorpions ninja clans is too epic to be left out lol
