As the title states I made a mistake customizing my Head Microgel Radical MP. I wanted to add some lead tape in the handle of the racquet (tried under the grip but it felt off). I added a bit of glue to make sure it held down but this didnt work. It came unglued and is now freely moving around in the HEAD of the racquet. I wasnt even aware that the the frame was hollow all the way through. I have tired for about thirty minutes to push it out by connecting two flimsy coat handers together but it hasnt done the trick. Can anyone offer a suggestion that might help?

I cant help you other than just bang the handle down to shake it down but I can help you with the weight thing. You can put enough weight to balance that racket right into the trap door. All you have to do is cut up the lead and put it in and some electrical tape on top to secure. And it cant come out because its secured by the buttcap and handle

Happened to me once with an M-Fil but i managed to get it out by shaking the frame for a couple of minutes. Good luck.

This is probably the last resort but you might try cutting the string out and then removing the grommets. Then try to coax the floating lead wt out the handle by strategically shaking the racquet. I think the lead is hung up somewhere by the grommet tubes. Anyway good luck!

Compressed air at the gas station/bike shop/auto repair, or from a compressor? Gently...see if it moves. Do it from the side furthest from the tape - if you know about where it is.

Option 1: take the butt cap off, swing it by the hoop until the lead comes out the handle.

Option 2: cut out the strings, remove the grommets then perform Option 1.

While not reeeeeaaaaly necessary, he did give you what you asked for ;)

But I find it odd that the tape wouldn't stick to the pallet. I'd find some new lead tape :)

To fix, just shake like a madman with the buttcap off. You can remove the grommets too as others have suggested.

Also, if you should ever put lead inside the handle again, it is always a good idea to stuff some cotton balls inside the handle first to prevent the lead from falling up into the head again.

I can't really add anything to the whole "how to get the lead out" advice. If it doesn't shake out, take out the strings and grommets and try again. Keep in mind, it is highly unlikely will be able to put the same grommets back in, so be sure to order a new set (or two) for when you string it again.

if shaking doesn't work, do you think the turbo snake drain cleaner could help? lol, infomercials.

Buy new grommets, remove the string and grommets, shake he lead out, replace the grommets, and restring.

chop racquet in half.

proceed to retrieve the missing lead tape.

caution: you're racquet may become un-usable after using my recommended operation. On the other hand, it would be fascinating to see what is really inside a Microgel Head. . .

While the grip size won't be increased too much, it isn't necessary to be too harsh with your posts. What if he actually did have OCD (?), and even if he didn't, people still have some things that they like to have perfect. These people are just trying to help.

However, you are completely right about lead tape and grip size.

I had a practice partner who used a vacuum cleaner (hose only, no attachments) at the butt (the racquet's, I mean) to remove pieces of grommet that had gotten stuck. It should work for lead tape, too. If you're lucky, you might be able to get it out without cutting strings and removing grommets.

For handle-weighting in general, I'm reluctant to trust anything that can come loose and rattle around and prefer silicone inside or lead tape outside, though I understand people have had good experiences with cotton & lead.

I'm having difficulty envisioning lead tape wrapped around a handle under the grip "falling off", though. Did you mean something other than what that part of the OP seems to say? (I know it's not the main point of your post, but it might have some bearing on finding a non-rattling handle weight.)

I have an easier solution. Take it to a pro shop, or send it to Irvin (or Rich or me), and let someone else take care of it. It will only cost money then, not a lot of frustration. Shouldn't cost more than a set of grommets and the stringjob, maybe a few bucks more for time and any material needed to get it out. Simple.

So after hours of me trying to get it out I brought it with me to the racquet shop when I was restringing my others. The owner hit it against the ground twice and it came out.... DOH. Go figure the first thing I tried for 30 minutes would work within 3 seconds for another person. I think it would have almost made me more happy for him to have as much trouble as I had so I feel that my frustrations were valid. Thank you for all your responces though.
