Nike Roger Federer Collection

Does anyone else here feel weird wearing clothing that's been monogrammed with initials that are not your own?

I really like the polos and jackets that Roger wears but have held off on buying any of them because of the "RF" initials.

First people were complaining that they didn't get the RF monogram. And now that they've got it, they're complaining too...

It's not really a "monogram" as it is a logo. It's just like a swoosh...

No different than wearing Lebron James shoes and gear that has LBJ all over it, or the Kobe line, or Jordan, etc, etc. There is a reason these people have their own signature shoes and clothes. Not such a bad thing to want to be like Roger, he's great and a class act.

A lot of the MJ shoes and tshirts had the MJ, his signature or his achievements somewhere or all over the place. Even athletes who are sponsored by the Jordan Brand, the initials are the name of their shoes or line. Cris Paul = CP3, Carmelo Anthony has his signature line with his nickname Melo. With Reebok Allen Iverson had his signature collection called after his nickname The Answer with his last name initial and number as his logo. Its just a brand and a logo representing one of the greats in tennis. Its not like ur wearing the initials of a nobody lol

I'm more comfortable with the shoes having the logo/monogram than the shirts.

I'm glad that they've moved some of the shirt monograms to the sleeve - a bit less obvious.

To much of it and it takes on a stalker/bromance/manpanion type of feel...

Wearing the Jordan logo is not the same as wearing a shirt with mj on it.

That's funny because the Jumpman (Jordan) logo is an actual silhouette of Michael Jordan. I really don't think there is much difference between Roger's RF, the Jumpman, Kobe's vector, or Lebron's LBJ logos. People just have to hate because it's Roger. I never heard anyone whining about Agassi's "A" splash logo.

It's so simple. If you don't like it, Don't buy it.

Nike makes it because a lot of people wants gear that RF logo is printed. but for ppl who doesn't want to buy gear which RF logo is printed, nike provides the 'Take Down' series.

The only matter is US Nike doesn't sell the 'Take Down' series, but as you can see at TW Europe, 'Take Down' series does not sold well as the original RF polos.

Besides, Nike always come out w/the generic clothing line that's similar to Fed's clothing line anyways, just get one of those that doesn't come w/the RF logo...

Soooo it seems that some people like the RF logo, monogram, shameless promotion and some don't. Is that what all the fuss is about?

you are right....the take down series is made just for those people who doesn't like the monogram rf ...note however there are some differences between the rf series and the take down series...as in the french open polos

Why is it that Roger gets his own signature monogrammed line but not Rafa?

He does, they just have bull or Rafa logos on them instead of initials, like the French Open shoes and the Rafa bull hats. Also everything Rafa wears as far as apparel, no other player wears, so they are his exclusively.

I don't like the RF logo. TWE has the latest RF polo's without the RF. So if you don't like RF, you can always order those.
I do like the bull logo! I think it looks really cool. I specially ordered the bull hat, because they are not available Europe.

True. But having the bull logo on his apparel is not the same as having 'RN' initialed on them just like how someone else in this thread said that having the Jumpman logo is not the same as having the initials 'MJ'.

I would feel weird wearing stuff with "RF" on them. I am a college student and I don't want to be walking around with the RF logo on my clothes and have people think: WELL, there's a federer Fanboy...what a ******. It's the same reason I won't buy the no compromise blue bracelet even though i think it looks pretty good. Although the Live Strong bracelet wouldn't be weird cause it's meant to let others wear it; and it benefits medical research.

I think especially the RF hats, that would be weird. I much rather just wear the regular Nike swoosh.

the andy roddick no compromise bracelets help support the andy roddick foundation that helps less privileged kids get access to sports programs they wouldn't usually have access too so i don't understand why you wouldn't wear the blue one but you would wear the yellow one.

The RF logo looks cool, and the Vapor VI shoes are great looking shoes. Most people wouldn't know what it meant if you walked down the street. It doesn't make you a "fanboy" at all. If it says anything, it says you are a tennis fan (to the select few who recognize it). Anyway, I don't think there is anything to be ashamed of being a Federer fan.

I think you over estimate the amount of people who would know what the RF logo is. Besides, with all the stupid t-shirts going around these days, you can wear pretty much anything and it will only stick in someone's head for a split second before they move on to some other t-shirt with some crap on it.

I like the logo and think its pretty classic, but I've NEVER seen anyone wearing a shirt or hat with that logo on it. not att the courts, in the mall, on campuses, never. It's not like Nike runs ads with the logo plastered all over the place, i think you would probably get more questions about it than people thinking your Roger's #1 fan.

My mom bought me a bluegrass colored RF shirt last week; can't wait to wear it around, thanks moms!

(ps - i'm 30 yrs old)

-------UPDATE-------
Of course the first time I wore it, I was standing in line at Whole Foods and a lady walked by and commented on how much she liked the Federer shirt.

Nike is a master in taking athlete fame and spray it all over their product with a lot success. The Jordan line, Tiger Woods TW, RF, etc. Seriously, people buy it because of the logo. Not too many people will buy a shirt or a pair of shoes at a premium and complaint about the logo.

There are plenty of non RF logo stuff to choose to from!

it's all about $$$$$$.
looks like nike can spend money as much as possible to sign top athlete. since they know how to make their products without spending so much money. no company can match nike's offer. before tiger wood, nike did not have golf equipment lines then spent huge money to sign him and become one of the popular golf equipment company.

once I received nadal polo without nike logo and I felt that the polo was not worth it anymore.

I think RF and Nadal lines are slightly better than others such as design and material.
