Anyone using Power Pads?

Hey everyone. Later today I am sending my 3 racquets out to get matched, strung, and power pads to be added. Does anyone here use power pads, I dont expect a huge change in anything just curious to how it feels and any possible differences you may notice. Thanks

I used to use them. They basically work the same as a dampener, but don't mute the feel quite as much. But the effect goes away on larger head rackets for some reason which I can't explain. I wouldn't use them on anything bigger than a 90 frame. They were used primarily on the 65 wood frame rackets to keep the mains from breaking due to the sharp corners of stringing at the throat of the racket, but did soften the stringbed a bit.

I use them whenever I string gut mains. As said, they damp some of the resonation and I don't end up using a rubber band.

I would write the exact same thing. I would like to add that power pads work best at low tensions. I used them only when I play with the Wilson K90 at 50-48lbs. Anything higher than that, it doesn't make much of a difference to me.

Also string types make a difference.

Nice. Thanks for the replies. I am matching all three of my Wilson BLX six.one Tour's. I am re-stringing with Luxilon ALU Power Rough and thinking about stringing 1 @ 46lbs, 1 @ 48lbs, and the last @50lbs.

I usually use power pads but the last bunch of racquets I had done they stated they were out of them. I didn't like that at all. Now they feel different as I hit with them.

Power pads simply damp the mains slightly. Put on a #32 rubber band as a dampener (#64 is the sized one tradtionally used for dampeners) and you'll get a similar feel.
