Rafa's aeropro with cortex?? Strange...

Hi everybody,

I recently have seen a Babolat aeropro drive GT which was a bit special... The frame was like the retail one (I was very close to it, so I'm sure of what I'm saying), but there were diffrencies:

- "Rafa" was painted instead of Aero Modular blabla (like on the Rafa's one)
- absolutely no specs printed in the throat of the frame (rec. tension, wight, etc...)


I thought it might be Rafa's stick, BUT the cortex was real! It was in L2 (4 1/4). I have absolutely no idea what sort of racquet it is considering the fact that we all know that Rafa's frame has no cortex... What do you guys think about that? Is it possible that this frame was a demo for Rafa, for him to tray the new GT racquets?

I'm sure people will ask for pictures, I'll try to meet the guy who has the frame and take some pictures (we play in the same club).

Yeah... pictures will be nice... but honestly, if you don't see the racquet with Rafa or Rafa's stringer, it will be very hard to confirm that it is actually his racquet.

To help get good info on what the frame in question is, you might want to tell us where/how you saw this frame. Was it in a shop? Was it online? Was it in the possession of a friend? Was it in Rafa's hand? Also, were there any markings/decals, such as hologram, size sticker, etc.? Was there a stringer's sticker?

yes I will try to take pics. And I'm sure that it's not his actual racquet, because he doesn't play with a real cortex. But the fact that his name is printed on the frame makes it special (I've never seen such an aeropro).

I've seen the frame at the club were I play, a guy said to me: "look at that, I got Rafa's frame!". I first thought he was like everybody thinking Rafa is playing with the retail frame, but when I look at it closer, "Rafa" was printed on it instead of "Aero Modular technology". In fact the frame is exactly the same as Fabfeds ( http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=340181 ) but it has a real cortex. Otherwise it's the same, with only the size sticker (2 : 4 1/2). Then I asked the guy where did he get such a frame, and he just told me that it was a gift...

Probably is a promotional PJ of the current APDGT.

Rafa does not play with a cortex/GT frame.. uses an original black and yellow APD painted like a APDGT.

I changed a bit the color for this picture, because it's hard to see the "Rafa" printed, I hope you can read it...

lol is this guy you got it from straight in the head?

Who seriously puts a damper there? even if just for photos it is HARD not to put it on right by simple instinct :)

haha yes, I don't know him very well, but he's very funny. He's some kind of old school player... He's not like many guy in this forum, he's not picky at all with what he plays with :p

Hard to tell from the pics, but I think it might be a fake. The silver paint seems a little too silver. On the one that I had, the silver was more foil than silver...

I have an apdgt also but the hologram is there and everything but it's a little bit duller than my other apdgt. Does this mean it's fake?

^ i dont think babolat puts holograms in their raquets, it is a barcode instead, and to the OT, maybe thats a raquet that babolat sent out to rafa to test when the apdgt first came out, and see if he would use it, idk, could be
