At the end of the quarter, I wanted to send a short thanks via email (along with other required info) to a TA at a university. I ended with up scoring 23 points above the median on my final and earned 7.5 extra credit points (awarded to 3-5 top extra credit projects), improving me, in half a quarter, from a 3.4 to a 3.7 (curved at 3.0).
I don't usually ask for help at all but I needed to when I did poorly on my first midterm. I emailed questions but I eventually had to attend office hours. When I did, I felt like Santa because my TA lit up like a little kid. I don't know, it was almost funny or weird but I wished all my teachers were that caring. Being naturally shy, I would speak quietly and in the heat of the moment I would just answer with short sentences WAY too many times-- yes, no, thank you, etc. For example, it was very awkward because I would say something too quietly and have to repeat myself quickly. I felt that my TA was opening the door for me and I just shut it. Would my TA think I am a suck-up? I always say a quick "thank you" after every time I get help and one time I had to repeat a "thank you" because I felt like I said it too quietly the first time. Would this be too many "thank you's"? I wished I could have been more sincere and showed how much I appreciated the help:

Thank you for your generous help this quarter. I truly appreciate your willingness to work with my project as well as your clear and detailed explanations to every single one of my other concerns; In the end it was a direct reason for why I was able to improve and exceed my goal for this class!

I hope this would not be the wrong thing to do and that my TA won't think I was being serious and just plain silly. My TA was so nice, and yet I was so disrespectful it just makes me want to pull my hair out.
