Did I score a pro stock frame? :O

Back in the winter time I switched from my Wilson BLX Six-One Tour to the YOUTEK Prestige Mid, which I bought from the local pro (I still have the Six-One cause it's amazing). Within a month or two, I bought another YOUTEK Prestige Mid from Tennis Warehouse, both at the same tension (62 lbs). However, the one I got from tennis warehouse seems lighter and gives me a little better feel (same string was in both of them.) I noticed it MASSIVELY today during my match when I switched to the one that seems heavier since my grip was getting wet on the other one. did I score a pro stock frame? :O

Most likely not, TW put pro stock frames up in the MG pj for a bit though. This is a case of quality control, most likely...is there a code in the throat? Any other noticeable physical differences? They should be pretty noticeable...

Open the butt cap, check for silicone. Take the grip off and see what the code is on the handle under the pallet

Not sure I'll check in the morning. And if this isn't the case then what's the deal? My hitting partner (my neighbor) even said he noticed it when I told him to compare.

In might be, because Pro Stock Head racquets are much lighter than their retail resemblance, just for the sake of customization.

I didn't find a code, but there is the fact that on the one that is lighter and more feel/flexibility at the top black part on the Prestige there's a bunch of little white spots (like it's peeling or something) but not on the other one, and the other one has been used more.

There was some talk that the newer Head Prostock frames don't have a code anymore, so they can "hide" its identity. I'm not 100% sure about this, so someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong.
If it's lighter, a purer feel, and more flexy, it can possible be a prostock. Congrats! Now you need some lead and silicone, and you're all set!

Forgive my ignorance, but what good is having a "pro stock" frame, then you modify it, and who knows if it's even close to what you need to play better tennis?
Maybe OP needs a PS85, or a Weed to play his best. Why should ONE racket be the right one for him? One that he still needs to modify!:shock:

Sintherius, could you provide a little feedback on your experience with the YTPM relative to the BLX 6.1? I'm considering a YTPM coming from the
KPS88 (see my thread "replacement for the KPS88"), which I understand is similar to the 6.1.

I just need to check the weight to be 100% sure there's a difference (but like I said I DEFINITELY felt a difference in weight and flexibility.) but not sure how to check the weight of a racket

I highly doubt that TW sold you a "Pro Stock" frame. Please post some photos of the racquet including the butt cap.

It makes you feel special... =)
I honestly find no reason to exclusively use a Pro Stock racquet. I mean, sure it's great have one. But unless you don't compete professionally or actually play tournaments, I see no point to ONLY use Pro Stock, and nothing else at all. Yes, you get that one-of-a-kind feel compared to the racquet it's displaying, and you get to customize it on your own. But there's an endless amount of retail racquets out there, and one is just bound to suit your needs perfectly, without customization.

Neither do I. I still switch between the two when one grip gets too wet, and my level of play doesn't increase/decrease really, I just like the feel of the more flexier/lighter one. People need to stop assuming things.

Exactly! I mean, yea it's totally cool and awesome to have a Pro Stock racquet, you know? But there's some people that splurge like $2000 on 4 Pro Stocks, because they exclusively use those frames. And they don't even play competitively. That's what I find really stupid.
