? YT Prestige Pro or YT Prestige MP ?

Hi everyone, i have been using the YT prestige mp for about a week now and i begin to realize, Why didnt I get the prestige pro! I feel it harder to hit with spin because of the 18X20 string pattern because it obviously isnt going to offer me more spin. Another thing that I notice with youtek prestige owners in general is that most people customize there rackets and add head tape because the racket is to head light. Please give your opinion about which of these rackets you like the most. The prestige pro or the midplus. Thanks.

I prefer the pro. It is much easier to generate spin due to the open string pattern and it seems more "whippy" than the mp.

Yeah thats the mistake i made when i bought the midplus cause i didnt bother to look at the string pattern. But do you like it in its stock form?

I use to play with the pro as well, definitely prefer it over the mp for its open string pattern

For the last 6 months, i have been playing it in stock form. I'm thinking about adding some lead but I don't really think it is necessary. The racquet plays really well the way it is,

The MP is underpowered but softer on the arm than the Pro. I tried both and thought the Pro generates more spin and provides more power but is tad harsh on the arm.

I find the MP offers better control and if you add some lead tape, it is actually playable.

Of the two, I prefer the MP over the Pro. the pro was too stiff for my liking.... however, if your looking for a compromise between the two, I suggest checking out the Becker Melbourne. I think the feel is comparable to each other and it's a little more forgiving. And the Melbourne is an 18x20 but offers a lot more spin than the MP so you get a lot of spin and control. It may be slightly less power than the MP though.

I would add leadtape to the midplus i just dont know how cause i have never used lead tape. If abyone has done this id like to know how cause i do know that the racket is headlight and needs lead in the hoop.

I prefer the mp over the pro, it has more control, more arm friendly, and string durability is longer. I added lead tape to the 12 position on the mp.

If you open up the CAP grommets at the top of the hoop slightly (you'll see a gap between the two halves of the grommet strip) you can smuggle in 1-2 grams of lead there.

I've played with all of the Prestiges over the years. Of the MidPlus versions (MP=18x20 and Pro=16x19)

I like the YT MP better than the YT Pro.
However, I liked the MicroGel Pro much better than either of the YouTek.
With that said, of all of the MidPlus Prestiges. I like the iPrestige the best.

With all of these, I've first tried them without any added weight customization and either a 17g (usually on the 18x20) or 16g (usually on the 16x19) Multifilament strung, around 55lbs.

As far as adding lead tape:
Lead tape can be added inside the hoop instead of under the CAP grommets so you can experiment with what feels like at different positions without having to restring every time you want to add or subtract weight.

There are a lot of threads on customizing weight and how it changes the feel. It also depends on your hitting style. Some prefer the weight at the ends of the racket (called polarized setup), others prefer weight distributed throughout the frame (non-polarized). There are advantages to both. I like a somewhat polarized setup for serve and groundstrokes but prefer non-polarized for volleys. Adding weight and experimenting with string types/tensions can make any racket feel totally different. The possibilities are endless. At a certain point you got to stick with something and balance that with your skill level and playing style.

Good luck.

i also switched to the pstgt from the prestige pro. currently using full gut which feels unbelievable. for poly i usually use signum pro tornado

I use both but the MP is my stick of choice unless it is super windy or Im playing someone who is sucking every last bit of pace off the ball.

I get nearly the same amount of topspin from the MP as the pro and it's slice approach shots are far superior. I use the Pro on days I hang back... if it is a net day (like most days) its the MP. The MP has an addictive control factor and placement on serves is better... for me at least.

The MP is a strategist's choice and I like to hit out, then go for touch... Ive never hit with another racket that could do both so well, but if you just want to baseline bash you will need lead.

What strings do you reccomend pyrokid!!

I'm actually still fiddling with strings... I really liked cyclone 18g, scorpion, BHBR, and SPPP. So far, my BHBR/Mantis Comfort Synthetic hybrid is feeling pretty good, I might stick with it... Nice control.

I've used both and the string patterns depend on your strokes IMO. I gained a lot more depth with the Pro, but I had to adjust my strokes a bit to maintain the same amount of ball control. The Pro feels like it has less dwell time, but it's probably just my string tension.
