With the return of the Pro Staff 85...any chance my beloved Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 95 will be back?
If so, I will order 3 in 4 3/8". I am sure I am not the only one.

Amazing stick... cant wait..

It'd be excellent if TW can make PS 6.0 95 available as well...

I and I'm sure many others would appreciate it as well if TW could ask Wilson to bring this one back as well.
I'm fairly new to the game and wasn't around when they were in retail, but had the luck of picking one up a few months ago, and it's fast become my main racket. Such a great racket!

You know what's funny? I kinda did call up Dolgopolov. While watching his match against Djokovic, I poked around online and found the email address of his agent. I sent him an email asking about getting my hands on a few figuring I'd never hear anything back; and I didn't... until this morning. It turns out it took so long because his agent had forwarded my email to the global marketing manager of Wilson. The response, quoted below, is very encouraging.

“Wilson is launching that racket again in their 2012 range, the name will be Pro Staff SIX ONE 95 BLX, and with a great new cosmetic, should be available in every retailers on January 2012”

While there's no mention of the weight or balance, I'm hoping all of that stays true to the original. In another part of the email he mentions it being the, "same shape (as) Alex's." I've got about a dozen 6.0 95's in varying stages of decay. A fresh run of these made available at a reasonable price is what I've been waiting for for years. Just can't find anything quite like 'em and can't afford shelling out $300+ for new ones from those that still have them ****. Let's hope everything stays on track for a January release!

Me gusta. I hit with a 6.0 95 a couple of times. Like you, I'm not a fan of the prices on the Bay.

6.1 yes, no way this is the box beam 95 6.0

I'll see if I can get confirmation from our local Wilson rep. A guy I hit with last week had seen the rep and he had the racquet with him among others. He couldn't remember what the head size was on it though; just that it was mostly white and was a box beam.

Why don't they just release the rackets properly instead of all this nonsense? Just put them up for sale permanently?

I'm hitting with the Pro Staff Six One 95 BLX on Wednesday. I'll have my 6.0 95's with me for comparison. For reference, I use the ones with a black butt cap though I do have one with a white butt cap and will bring it along as well. I'll post thoughts here Wednesday afternoon/evening.

ha!

i'm looking for confirmation because if this release is actually going to happen, i'll wait for the new 95 instead of spending money on something else.
That's exactly why they don't want to confirm it. They want you to buy what they have in inventory now. It's the same reason why almost all companies keep their upcoming new products under wraps until they are available for sale - they don't want to cannibalize sales of their existing products which they still have plenty of inventory of.

Great! Looking forward to it. From what we know of the specs right now, it looks like the PS Six-One 95 BLX is lighter than the good ole' PS 6.0 95 (11.3 oz. vs 11.6 oz. unstrung).

you're talking about wilson or tw? i can understand the manufacturer's rationale, but tw routinely announces updates/reissues/releases here (when queried) before they occur (e.g., the 85 pro staff). they'll also drop prices on current models in anticipation of new frames, no? (virtually the entire blx line is on sale right now.)

i'm going to assume/hope this is a prototype, since i can't imagine a "mostly white" racquet - regardless of graphics - being a "great new cosmetic." i'm looking forward to your impressions as well.

ugh. i don't understand the need to tweak the specs. the good ole' 95 is good for a reason.

My guess is the new PS 95 will feel like the Asian BLX 6.1 90, and not like the original PS 6.0 95. It will be a bit lighter overall, there will be more weight in the head, and it will be less headlight, in other words. Just a guess, but it would fit in with the specs we already know and with it being in the PS 6.1 line.

Got to play a set with the Pro Staff Six.One 95 today. Spencer asked me not to put pics up, so I won't do that and please don't ask me to post any. A well-thought-out search will pull up a picture of the 90 and they look the same. I'll be as specific as I feel like I can be without having the post deleted. There's another thread that has the specs. They haven't been deleted so I guess it's okay to tip-toe around them here.

First, to give you a frame of reference, I'm a 5.0, I'm 36 and have been playing with the PS 6.0 95 for about 15 years. Prior to that, I played with the 85. I tried switching a couple times, but always ended up back with the 6.0.

While an original 6.0 95 it is not, it's the closest they've ever come. I believe their new slogan is something like, "respect the past, build for the future." I think that is a perfect description for what I had the chance to play with today. Basically, it's a 95 version of the Six.One Tour, though considerably lighter. The 95 6.0 was always lighter than the 85, but we're talking an ounce and a half now where it was only 4/10 of an ounce in the old days.

The balance point marked on the frame I hit with today indicated that it was the same as the PS 6.0 95. On a (very) informal comparison by balancing my frames (one black butt cap, one white) and this frame on the net, the Six.One was not as headlight as either of my frames. All were strung. I play with a 4.5 grip, the demo was a 4 3/8. All had overgrips. I do not use lead tape on my frames and the demo did not have any either. I'm no racquet technician, but maybe it has something to do with the size of the grip and/or the synthetic grip on the Six.One. Some well-placed lead tape will get the balance where you want it anyway.

So, I guess the question is, "How was it?" I liked it. While the grip felt a little spongy and was 1/8 of an inch smaller than I'm used to, it didn't really feel all that different from the 6.0. That's not to say that I couldn't tell the difference. I'm not gonna break down how it felt on groundtrokes, volleys, etc., but I had no trouble picking this up and playing a competitive set with it. On shots requiring subtle racquet movements, I was a little late on a few. I like the headlightness (that can't be a word) of the 6.0, so I would probably put some lead in the handle somewhere.

There are other differences such as the addition of one cross string to the pattern versus the 6.0. While it is a box beam, it is shaped like the Six.One tour, not the 6.0. Side by side, looking at them in profile, the PS Six.One 95 is a bit thinner than the 6.0; looking at the beam with the strings facing you, the PS Six.One is thicker.

I hope I struck the right chord between being too vague to be useful and so specific that it gets deleted. Feel free to ask questions, but let's be careful so that we don't make TW Staff or Wilson upset.

a couple general questions:

1) an extra cross string would make it 16/19. could you feel a difference in spin/control/power/response/etc. compared to the 6.0 95?

2) similar to #1, with the noticeable change in weight and balance, has stability been compromised?

I didn't really feel a difference in spin/control/power etc. I only notice a difference in spin when companies jam too many main strings into too small a space. It felt the same to me on spin. I didn't string the racquet, so it's hard to make a direct comparison. The ball flew on me a few times, but it was strung natural gut mains and big hitter rough crosses. I go regular lux mains and synthetic crosses. Early on, when I was taking volleys, it felt like the frame was vibrating a little. It could have been just me not having played with real gut in a while and not being used to the strings vibrating until their broken in.

we're talking an ounce and a half now

I may be doing some weird math ... but does that mean this new 95 frame you're trying is actually under 11oz (unstrung)? ... that is if we take a BLX90 at 12oz and subtract 1.5oz we're around the 10 1/2 oz mark? Seems super light.

Am I just not doing the math right?

11 oz even.
Is that strung or unstrung for the PS Six-One 95?

The unstrung weight of the PS 6.0 95 is 11.6 oz and the PS 6.0 85 is 12.1 oz. for a difference of 0.5 oz.

So if this PS Six-One 95 is 1.5oz. lighter than the PS 6.0 85, that would make it only 10.6 oz. unstrung. Yikes!

Yikes! is right, especially since Wilson already has two other 95 sq in racquets (Tour and Team) close to that weight.

I guess that "respect the past, build for the future." slogan is referring to the past when Wilson slapped the "Pro Staff" name on racquets like the 6.5, 6.6, and 6.7.

If this racquet really is only 10.6 oz. unstrung then that's way too light for me as I find even the PS 6.0 95 a bit too light at a whole ounce heavier. Oh well, I think my bubble just burst. :(

You're right, this racquet shouldn't even be labeled a "Pro Staff".

1.5 oz lighter than the six.one tour, not the 6.0 85. New 95 is 11.0.

i agree. if 11.0 is the strung weight, i don't know how this racquet could feel or play anywhere close to the 6.0 95.

my occasional issue with the 6.0 95 isn't lack of weight, but lack of stability. that's why i'm considering the 85 reissue. i too was hoping for a blx (or other updated) version of the 6.0 95. this clearly isn't it.

It's 11.0 unstrung. At least, that's what was marked on it.

i wasn't sure whether 11.0 was strung or unstrung. thanks for clarifying.

that said, the strung weight would still be half an ounce less, which would offer a different balance. the fact you talked about the need for lead tape to achieve more "headlightness" is not encouraging.

1.5 oz lighter than the six.one tour, not the 6.0 85. New 95 is 11.0.

But the Six-One Tour 90 is 12.0 oz. unstrung, so if this new 95 is 1.5 oz. lighter, that would make it only 10.5 oz. unstrung.

Or if you look at the strung weights, the Six-One Tour 90 is 12.5 oz. strung, so that would make this new 95 only 11.0 oz. strung?

I'm confused.

as am/was i. either way, i'm not considering this racquet 1) an update for or 2) comparable to the 6.0 95.

What's confusing about this? The new one is 11 oz, unstrung, as he said a dozen times now. That's one ounce and a half lighter than the six one tour strung. So the difference will be less when strung.
