Just wondering - what is the best deal you have found on a true classic?
mine was - back in the winter - on fleabay - i got a POG for $8.50. i would say in 8.5 condition. i bought it in an auction for two prince racquets. i don't think the seller knew what it was - i think they just got it in a garage sell and put them on fleabay and i got them both for $17.00. the other one was a prince older pro 110.
that was a good deal.

Was that $17 (or $8.50 each) with or without shipping?

I'm not like drakulie who's gotten $1 St. Vincent made Wilson Pro Staff Midsize frames in Floridian garage sales, but I've gotten a couple SV Pro Staff Mids, one for $8, another for $10 at used sporting goods stores.

I recently picked up a POG OS single stripe for $4.90 at a Goodwill store. Very good condition and is my grip size.

shipping was $10.00 additional for both - still a good deal.

2 Minty Adidas GTX-Pro unstrung with labels still attached, 4 or 5 Ilie Nastase Adidas Woodies and 2 Snauwaert unused racquets.

All for the princely sum of 30 euros.

The best was the $8 I spent on a new w/ tags Dunlop Max 200G that was a limited Steffi Graf Golden Grand Slam model which I turned around and sold on Fleabay a couple days later for $550.

My wife said, "Why don't you do that everyday?"
Me, "Sure. I'll just quit my job and look for that needle in the haystack daily."

That was the buy it now price and to this day I wonder if I could've gotten more. I put it up after midnight and it sold in less than 2 hours to a person who lived in the same timezone.

You beat me by 10 cents. I picked up the same POG OS single stripe at a yard sale for $5.00 :)

Just picked up my second Maxply Fort Tournament Graphite.

Saw it in the window of a restaurant with a 'Wimbeldon' themed display.

It was a bit dusty, but I could see that there were no scuffs on the head and the plastic was still on the grip. I asked what they wanted for it and they said..........

Nothing, you can have if you want it!! :)

The ultimate bargain!! I've given it a light clean up and its pretty mint.

You name a highly collectible, vintage frame from the last 35 years and I have it, always purchased from a yard sale, thrift store or flea market for less than $5. I keep the ones in excellent condition and sell the rest to restock the purchase fund. I do make an exception for top wood frames, which I re-string and use to furnish wood only tournaments.

Its the hunt that's the fun.

Max 200G for $10. Wanted the Fairway grip, removed it, still have the racquet. Heavy, well over 13 oz.

I picked up a mint PS 6.0 95 for 1 euro and several MAX 200G's for an average price of 1.50 euro's in a thriftstore.
An other favorite must be a mint Fischer Superform Tuning for 15.00 euro's.

My worst nightmare was that I let a couple of mint Estusa Pro Legend Classics slip because at that time I felt that 25,00 euro's for the two was a bit of a risk.

the thing is, when you pick up a couple of racquets like that for a couple of euros, 25 euros does then seem a lot.

Yes, I was just getting into collecting and trading vintage rackets and thought it was à bit risky. I was not convinced that the one I was going to sell would make me break even.....how foolish to think!

Bumperless Pro Staff 85 St Vincent for $25?

Entirely too much racquet for me, but I couldn't pass it up.

I've had a few. I can't decide between a new Maynard AirPower with cover for $25.00, a 9/10 Bancroft Slingshot with cover for $14.99, a 9/10 "Handler" two handle racket with cover for $30.00 or a 9/10 Sp.in G-100 with cover for $9.99.

just wanted to add that i also picked up a jack Kramer staff st. Vincent 110 a few weeks ago on flea-bay for $25.00. it is about an 7.5/8.0 so that was a pretty good deal.

My best E**y deal by far was a Pierre Cardin racquet bag, which included a Bjorn Borg Donnay wood and a Kneissl Cup Star (both mint) for a total of 41 Euros shipped! That translates to NZ$68

Which store? Is it in St. Paul?

The one in Maplewood. At the time I purchased the Staff they also had a Pro Staff woodie and I bought both of them, right around $7 for the pair. Sadly I've been back to the same store several times since and haven't found anything worthwhile.

Thanks. Maplewood is little far for me since I live in the western suburb area. These are nice oldies and goodies. Have fun with them.

I've enjoyed these thrift store treasures a lot along with several others. Pshulam, there is a Saver's store in Bloomington that may be a little more convenient for you. Check it out if you get a chance....never know what you might find.
