I can find steams but would like to see a scoreboard more. Anyone have a link to livescores?

I hate those courts ... they are so close together ,always playing 'lets'... why don't college courts spread them wider and fence in every court..

Baylor and Northwestern might put up more of a fight than you think.

Northwestern's doubles point has been pretty bad all year, and in singles they've been wildly inconsistent, way more than any previous year. Sometimes they can play like a Top 5-8 team, and then turn around and play like a 20-25 team.

They've played in a neutral environment, and at UVA
, so not sure what the neutral environment of Athens means for Duke's chances

But yes, I gulped a bit at this draw, always tough to beat a gritty talented team three times

If UVA wins the dubs pt we'll have a nail biter on our hands like at UVA...if not, not nearly as dicey I suspect like the Acc tourney

Well done by UVA - here we go

Too bad that the ACC qualifies five women's teams for the final 16, and four of them are paired against each other, with the fifth (Georgia Tech) being one of the lower seeds with a very tough draw. Great conference for women's tennis, but only two will be in the quarterfinals.

yep, strange and unfortunate that this draw ended up being PAC12 vs ACC/SEC halves...much worse than the men's draw

impressed with UVA so far...i think capra will turn it around despite the early going here, but who knows if even that will be enough...lots of UVA players brining it tonight it seems

we'll see who handles the big moments better at the end of what i foresee will be many, many close sets

after watching for a half hour:

MATCHES LOOKING FAIRLY GOOD FOR DUKE

capra rolling now after an ugly first few games - she should win

kahan looking really good up 5-2, hard-fought but i like the way she's playing and her body language - i'd bet she takes it

turewicz is a strange player - like reka from a year or two ago in a lot of ways, but hasn't elevated her craftiness to that same level of course - she won the first set but in a lot of ways that match is in the hands of her opponent - hopefully the UVA player continues to struggle / get frustrated with the stuff coming to her

------
NOT SURE YET

i love clayton's heart out there - fought off at least one set point with some ridiculous scrambling - i'm not sure there's a player out there that makes her opponent work more for points - so here's hoping that work pays off against a strong UVA player in the end - i think it will be tough for UVA to recover if clayton wins the first (5-5 now, was 5-3 UVA at the time of set point(s))

goldfeld and hardenbergh have been neck and neck all season, i wouldn't want to bet on this one

------

MATCHES LOOKING LESS GOOD FOR DUKE

Mar is a heck of a fighter also, and in some ways has the more all-around game of the two on that court, but Xi looks to be a bit too much for her to handle from the baseline

clayton and goldfeld win tough first sets

all 4 first sets completed so far go to duke

kahan let a set point get away at 5-2, so hopefully she closes this first set out despite that

mar fighting back, 4-5 now

mikej

mar to 5-5

kahan will have to serve for it again at 5-4

would be some great momentum if duke is able to grab all 6 first sets, go devils!

mikej

xi takes the first to give UVA something positive, capra moving toward the finish line while turewicz is seeing her set and 4-1 lead narrowed to 4-3 shortly

mikej

that second set on ct 6 looks huge to me - either a pt on the board soon for duke or bigtime momentum for uva if the comeback keeps going

mikej

Hall of Fame
5-3 turewicz, kahan opening up a 3-0 second set lead

this could be 3-1 duke soon if turewicz plays another good game

and goldfeld is up a break in that seesaw early in 2nd

5-4 on ct 6, chance to serve out the match

kahan goes up 5-0 in 2nd

no 2nd set leads for UVA

this turewicz game is all duke needs to take the life out of UVA

mikej

kahan off 1st, capra soon after...2-1 duke

turewicz up 6-5 with another chance to close on her serve

clayton approaching the finish line (5-2, 30-30) and mar looking great up a break in 2nd

go duke!

it may be 3-1, but things have slipped away from goldfeld in the 2nd now after leading the first half of the set...if UVA splits at 6 they will be pumped and very much alive

bad service game be turewicz, tried to do something with the ball and that isn't her game unfortunately

hugely important tb at #6 now - they've played 8 pts - not sure the score - 3-1 duke plus 4 others - UGA scoreboard has been saying this match is over for a while now, incorrectly

mikej

turewicz played a great tb to finish it off, 4-1

made me put my foot in my mouth even with some successful aggressive play in that tb

in 3 matches this season, UVA won two dubs pts but never won a singles match that truly counted (they won two clean-up matches in the encounter at UVA once Duke had won 4-1)

4-1, 4-0, 4-1 with two dropped doubles pts against a great ACC team, not bad!

Duke has everyone back next year, I believe. That should make them a contender for the national title again.

they're a contender this year :) at least i'm going to claim that until someone proves otherwise (which very likely will be UF if they can get past UGA and the home crowd) - but yeah next year should be great for the women

and the men - with Redlicki taking down Ouellette the other day, i could envision:
1) Cunha
2-3)Redlicki/Mengel
4-5)Saba/Semenzato
6) a competition b/t Hemmeler, Tahir, McCall

i think that team would have national title potential - or maybe just break that ridiculous ACC streak UVA has built up finally

I think top 2 in the nation next year can be uva and duke....although with uva returning jenkins, domijand frank they almost start 3-0 up against everyone

Satsuma Illini

I'm pulling for UVA to take it all this year. It's about time they joined the champions' circle. That is if Illinois doesn't pull off the massive upset tomorrow. LOL

I see that McHale sat out #1 singles for UNC, moving the entire lineup up one spot. It's hard to survive at this level of competition for the women with an injury at #1 (and they did not survive).

Was a pretty entertaining doubles point for the Gators over UofM. Embree/Mather were on the brink, down 5-7 and proceeded to win 4 straight games to take the dubs point.

That point was fairly irrelevant against UofM, but it will be a much bigger deal a couple rounds from now.

McHale has been playing thru a lot of foot pain. UNC has had two player wearing boots when they are off court. But every team is banged up this time of year.
Losing the doubles point forced UNC to try to find a way to win one of the top 3 courts, which they did at 3.The problem then became holding onto 6 and 4.
Congratulations to Miami.

Using the word entertaining to describe any part of the UF vs UM match would be a stretch. It may be because I'd set through 6 hours of tennis and a rain delay, and that the only people left in the stands were a handful of Florida fans over the age of 60, but that match was tedious. The 1 doubles match was solid, and the match between Allie Will and the really good freshman from Michigan at 1 was worth watching a few points. But the matches at 2 and 3 were just booooring. Embree was just moonballing everything, 8 feet of net clearance, right down the middle. And at #3, the little girl from Michigan was really trying to mix it up and play smart, but she just had no pace and every rally was 20 plus shots...monotony. I'll still take any tennis over no tennis though, so can't complain too much.

I guess the entertaining part was the #2 doubles coming back from being down 5-7 when it was one proset each. I did go to bed after the dubs, knowing that we'd roll in singles.

it was on a cam camera ... USC were down... #2 and #3 came back from no-wheres ... great fight for this young team..

USC #3 is one tough fighter ... great job for her... I didn't think USC could ever beat Stanford full team line-up but they just did it..

NCAA does this in other sports, its called East coast bias, they did not want an all pac 10 final so they put USC,UCLA and Stanford in the same half.
