He's not playing. He does not even know when he will be back, but the goal is to hopefully make it to the AO.

It would be hilarious if Nadal made his comeback at the Davis Cup final, only to be beaten by Rosol. Two back-to-back defeats by Rosol; I think that possibility alone will probably scare Rafa off.

So Nadal kept coming after Djokovic despite 7 straight losses, yet is scared of Rosol?

This is the truth. Nadal is not scared of Rosol. Wtf is wrong with some of you people? Do you honestly think losing to Rosol has even been a given a moments thought by Nadal? Rosol shot his wad,and will never replicate that win. Never.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

He should consider playing only if they play on a court that's easy on his knees (clay). If not, I'd prefer to see him back at AO 2013, ready to dish out another beating on Federer and Djokovic (and Murray).

There is no shame in losing to Djokovic, especially in 2011 when he was the undisputed #1 on a crazy winning streak. But Rosol?! I think if Nadal lost to Rosol he wouldn't show his face again for months. Oh, wait...

doesn't matter much. Almagro and Ferrer should both beat Stepanek. That means the competitive doubles match should decide it, and Ferrer can definitely upset Berdych.

Nadal, if anything, would be a liability.

True i agree BUT! have you seen Berdych's form recently??? He is getting hot this time! he was crushing people ON CLAY! his worst surface in DC so im guessing with the home crowd, THe surface which he likes AND him being in a great form right now! highly unlikely hes going to lose to Ferrer of all people
2011 WTF would be a match to look at as this surface will be quite similar

Do you even know the kind of consistency that Berdych has ? He was as cold as ice in his last 3 GS, and only was on fire just recently at the USO.
He's an on again, off again type player. Sure at his best, he can beat the best of Fed, Rafa or Djoko. But after getting to the finals of Wimbledon 2010, how did he fare after. The same can be said this time around.

Do not underestimate the Bull terrier. He's a feisty fellow.

im not but you do realise that when Berdych gets hot it usually lasts for a while. Yes he is VERY inconsistent BUT on the other hand recently he hasnt been plus extra motivation and home crowd advantage!

Ineteresting. It is also true that Ferrer basically won the cup for Spain last year.

Nope, Nadal was there for the crucial stages against France (had to beat Tsonga) plus Nadal won the winning match against Del Potro, all pivotal matches for Spain lifting yet another Davis Cup trophy.

I cannot for the life of me understand why top players even care about Davis Cup....especially if you already have one.

Nadal has won 11 matches in a row over Berdych. Nadal just walking on the court will defeat Berdych.

Seriously if Nadal plays in the DC final, would the Czech put Rosol on just for the LOLs, it's not like they have a great chance to win the whole thing anyway, so why not give a shot and let him humiliate Nadal on clay?

The Czechs are likely to choose hard court as the surface.

And lol at you thinking Rosol even has a chance against Nadal on clay..

I hope Rosol plays Nadal in the Davis Cup final actually, so Nadal can even up the H2H with Rosol to 1-1, and completely humiliate him in front of his home crowd. Nadal showed no mercy against Soderling at Roland Garros 2010 and Roland Garros 2011, where he beat him both times in straight sets. Boom, that's Rafael Nadal. Then he'll be Lukas losoR (loser).

The DC final will not be on clay, and  at the idea of Rosol ever beating Nadal on the dirt. You must be out of your mind to ever think that he would.

I beg to differ. Don't get me wrong, with the Czech crowd Berdych might be slight favorite. But on a normal day Ferrer is clear favorite, only has to play at 80% to beat dangerous but error-prone Berdych.

Agreed. Actually, no one will ever beat Nadal on clay in a Davis Cup final, since he always arrives in his best form, and no one beats Nadal in his best form on a clay-court.

If Rafa plays I am with him. I just want him to be back playing tennis! It isn't a great surface for him but he has to start back somewhere and it will be nerve wrecking for him wherever the comeback is. Rafa has so much passion in these Davis Cup ties, he is such a proud Spaniard full of Spanish fury and fire. Rosol won't be there! One day wonder of the world! Pathetic. What he has done since?

LOL more like Djokovic's level fell through the floor.

Djokovic beat Ferrer in straight sets (who had a great 2012), then beat Murray (who won a slam in 2012), then beat Nadal with a 7-5 fifth set at AO 2012 in the final. That close fifth set meant Nadal had closed the mental gap between him and Djokovic. Djokovic beat Federer in Rome in straight sets in the SF, and beat Federer in straight sets as Roland Garros 2012 in the SF (Federer hadn't been straight-setted before the final since 2004), and since Federer became world number 1, it obviously implies Djokovic's level never dropped. All that happened was that Djokovic met Rafael Nadal, the king of Roland Garros and channel slam champion, who overturned his 0-7 deficit and took control of the H2H again, finally figuring out Djokovic. At the moment, he's at 19-14, only a single win away from mirroring the Sampras-Agassi H2H. So Djokovic did fall the floor, because Nadal pushed him through it. That's what Nadal does.

Djokovic almost lost to Murray in the AO semis(who he mercilessly thrashed in the AO 2011 final in straights), dropped a set to retirement homer Hewitt and still almost beat your loverboy Ralph in 4 in the AO final.

Sorry, dullzilla, but Ralph took advantage of a jaded out-of-form Djokovic. I know the 7 consecutive beatdowns have permanently scarred your impressionable mind but you'll just have to find a way to deal with it.

The focus of my post wasn't specifically on AO 2012. You've still not addressed the issue of Djokovic beating Federer at Rome 2012, and Roland Garros 2012. Both in straight sets. (Where Federer would then go on to become the top-ranked player.)

By the way, 'dullzilla'? Is that a reference to Godzilla? If so, thanks for the compliment, I am a very powerful person.

Fed's well and truly past his prime, any wins he gets against the top guys is seen as a bonus.
But, what is your explanation for Ralph getting systematically humiliated on his favourite surface in consecutive finals(Madrid and Rome) in 2011 by Djokovic ,when Ralph was in his prime? Ralph should just turn in his 2011 RG trophy to the French Federation or better yet hand it to Fed for doing his dirty work for him.

No, its a reference to your bullzilla nick, one amongst the other 100 of your nicks on this site.

Yep, he's best ignores. Must bother him no end that Rafa has managed to turn the tide against Novak, while Fed has never managed that against Rafa.
