Has any athlete ever dominated a sports event more than Nadal?

This thread is about Nadal at an EVENT. Has any athlete ever dominated a sports EVENT more than Nadal? Did I have to spell out the name of the event?

Capiche?

Yes...as I said earlier, John Holmes was more dominant in his "event" during the 70's...

Don't forget about Jahangir and Jansher Khan. I believe Jahangir went undefeated for five years and won something like 500+ straight matches. He is the GOAT of GOATs.

+1 .

I believe he won 555 consecutive matches in a timeframe of 5 yrs and 8 months. That is insane dominance.

And also this...
"In 1982, Jahangir astonished everyone by winning the International Squash Players Association Championship without losing a single point."

So basically, what the OP is saying is that Nadal dominated only two weeks of the tennis season. That's pretty crappy lackluster domination, nowhere near the other examples other people here mentionned.

The problem with Fedoper at Wimbledon is he lost in the first round 3 times, and in 2010 and 2011 he lost in the QFs. Fedoper has needed to participate in 14 Wimbledons for his 7 titles. Whereas Nadal has only needed to play Roland Garros 8 times to win 7 of them. The comparison is like night and day. As far opposite as 7 titles can get.

Not only that, Nadal only dropped ONE set this year at Roland Garros. A good chance he won't drop any sets in 2013 with a fresh frame. Fedoper isn't even in the picture as far as domination of a singular event goes.

So we have Fedoper, Nadoper, Djoper and Murdoper. Nice!

300 weeks > 102 Weeks

lol at Rafa being better.

300 weeks at what event?

17 slams at what event?

52-1 is far more impressive than anything Federer has ever done at any event, by far.

Federer's record at Wimbledon is awful compared to that. Federer has actually only won 7 Wimbledons in 14 attempts.

Funny how you said tennis in your first post, and the reponse you got from NatF was a tennis response. Because in tenns (tennis is a sport, not a specific event), Federer is greater than Nadal.

Yes, at a singular event, Nadal has been more successful.

Am I the only person posting about the thread title? I assumed everyone had read the thread title. You know, the title, it says "Has any athlete ever dominated a sports event more than Nadal?"

Anyone know what the word "event" means? Anyone over the age of 5 here?

Federer isn't even remotely in the hunt.

Many people have come up with answers showing sheer domination by athletes in an event in which they have taken part in. Phelps alone has dominated an event called the Olympics, you might have heard of it.

I think the clear answer to the question is yes. In several different sports and in tennis.

But Nadal has done well at one particular tournament.

I didnt read all of the posts, but didnt Rocky Marciano retire undefeated?? And that was in a sport where you get punched in the face!

7/8 attempts is hugely impressive. Nadal on clay is virtually unbeatable. Never lost to the same player more than twice on that surface. Unequaled dominance on tennis. His skewed h2h's reflect that.

This is a good suggestion.
I also heard of a Badminton player Rudy Hartono - heard he quit the game because there was no one at his level.

I'd venture to say Federer has dominated the YEC event as much as Nadal has the French.

Lleyton Hewitt, David Nalbandian, Gilles Simon, Andy Murray, Nikolay Davydenko, and Juan Martin Del Potro all say hi.

You keep asking this when you (rightfully) correct people about the thread being about the ONE EVENT.

Yet whenever people give an answer ABOUT ONE EVENT BEING DOMINATED, you ignore it unless it's about Federer.
