Rpm 16 Vs. Bhbr 16?

well im about to string this on my babolat pure storm gt with either rpm/bhbr or maybe even not these two?
i wanted to know your first opinions. which one has the best power, spin, control, and feel. also, which one you liked better, overall.
i was also thinking about doing it full bed.

I understand this is subjective, but, I hated rpm. I cut it out after 1hr. with great pleasure.
BHBR is much better in feel, comfort, spin.
I used full bed of each, same racquet same tension.

BHBR is better for players who don't have tour level swingspeeds. If you have a tour level swingspeed that's where the snap-back effect of RPM comes into play.

I really like RPM, after a second outing with it. The last time I used it was 2ish years ago, and since then I've really improved my racket head speed where RPM shines. I definitely agree though, you need to swing FAST for RPM to be effective, especially on serve.

The worst part about RPM is the tension loss though. I haven't measured it, but I swear it drops 5lbs every hitting session, and it lasts me around 6 hours (3 hours of match play, and another 2-3 hours of practice) before it either pops or is just dead/notched everywhere.

Hey Fuji, thanks for answering. I have a question. How would you rate the Power level? Also what did you mean by effective when you use rpm? Was the power to low or what? Thanks

Hey Derick,

Sure! For a poly, I find the power level actually pretty high. It's super soft and I string it at around 56lbs normally. By effective I mean the percentage of shots that actually go in. Being a springy soft poly, it does have a tendency to launch shots that don't have large amounts of spin on them to keep it in. Flat shots really aren't the safest bet with RPM IMO. Just lots of pop for a poly. Obviously multi's and gut are a lot more inherently powerful, they have a more controllable power compared to RPM. RPM is all about the spin, and boy does it produce!

Thanks Fuji. I'll probably get the rpm, but my shots aren't the fastest yet. How long did it take you to get use to it?

I'm not sure, maybe 10 strokes on each side? This is the second time I used it of course. The first time I cut it out right away as it killed my arm from the super slow RHS speed I had and the shanks!

I have decent RHS speed now, so it makes up for it!

Hey, by an chance have you tried the bhbr 16? If so how did it feel like?

Big hitter blue rough? I find it plays similar to Luxilon ALU Rough, rather than RPM Blast. It's plays nicely in a full bed regarding to comfort. Spin is pretty equal for me. BHBR actually plays a bit deader for me at the same tension compared to RPM which is definitely nice depending on how hard you hit. It's a really nice string for the price. Definitely can't go wrong at under a hundred a reel, that's for sure.

Sorry for the late reply!

If I were able to get both strings for free, I'd pick RPM everytime. That being said, BHBR is definitely the better economic choice. I love RPM, but I cannot justify paying almost 20$ a set, when BHBR is like 6$ off a reel!

RPM is a poly, it's definitely controllable. It's just springy in comparison to other poly! :Razz:

Make sure to keep that racket head speed up though!
