did someone have this kind of injury?

hi, i had an unexpected injury in my foot, not by spraining my ankle.

i was running forward and then stopped with my right foot to change direction when suddenly heard a 'knack' sound and felt a serious pain causing me to stop immediately and go home. i was able to limp and then went home to see what happened.
i recognized the a swollen area (a little swollen, not too much) around here:

i rested for 2 days, and i can limp when not fully stepping on my foot (straightening my foot and stepping only on my ankle is somewhat ok).
when sitting i don't have any discomfort ATM. i can move my foot a bit but there are obviously some painful angles i cannot reach.

tomorrow i'll go to an orthopedic but still wanted to know if anyone had this kind of sprain or whatever?
and most importantly, how long does it take to FULLY recover? (2 weeks? more?)

thanks!

Sorry to hear you have a problem.

As your photo shows, there are so many different tendons, ligaments and bones in this small area it is hard to know exactly what is going on in you.

It seems you are doing the smart thing and going to see an orthopod.

Hopefully it will turn out to be a relatively self-limited sprain or strain.

Let us know how things turn out.

well i went to the doctor,
he said it's a relatively simple strain and should simply heal soon in around 2 weeks.
i could consider start playing again ONLY after i am able to stand on my heels and toes with no pain and without ANY discomfort, also when jumping in place.

thanks for the concern.

i just wonder how exactly was that injury possible?
i mean, this kind of changing directions isn't suppose to be such a hazard for a spraining injury! why? my foot was secure on the court, done this a million time before.
maybe my feet were exhausted?
or maybe this has something to do with my worn out Barricades?
maybe they became too mushy and cause the foot to be somewhat loose? i worry about that.

You should be playing barefoot. Problem solved.

Shoes are a conspiracy.

First, they cost $100 a pair or more. Second, they are designed to injure you, so the medical establishment can make money from surgery and drugs.

Paleo man didn't need shoes.

no cement, that's true.

also, what about sharp objects? bits of glass or whatever?
and what about injuries that could specifically happen BECAUSE you're barefoot, like toes and nails?
we're talking about rough cement courts.
i don't have clay courts to play on.

besides, i won't go playing barefoot in winter so that's a few months with no tennis.

all this is enough while comparing getting injured BECAUSE of shoes, once in a few years.

tell you what. put a video of you playing a match barefoot on cement and i'll think about it.

I don't use fancy high-tech garbabe like video cameras or shoes (or spell check).

All I can tell you is that I've NEVER been injured playing tennis barefoot. Not one single time.

Give it a try. You'll be a convert in no time.
