Anyone else have an eerie feeling there will be a tennis doping scandal unveiled?

So if anyone in the ATP is clean, who would be the most likely players?

Personally, I think Baghdatis might be clean. He seems to lack that same spring in his legs other players have, and he really seems to be fighting an uphill battle in every match, despite having plenty of talent relative to the rest of the field. It also looks like he really feels the wear and tear. Seems like he might be one of the ones getting screwed over.

Dimitrov.

If he were on the same PEDs as the rest of the field he'd be sitting at 12 slams and two CYGS right now.

Oh, and 10 masters shields.

shouldn't a doping scandal come out before we begin jumping to conclusions and blaming player x for doping and saying the ATP is silently banning nadal and soderling for doping? Why not give them the benefit of the doubt until told otherwise? I may be way off on this, but tennis seems like a sport where an athlete doesn't need to dope. All a tennis player needs is to be very well conditioned, which can be achieved without PEDs. PEDs aren't going to help the actual game of the player. PEDs can't increase shotmaking ability. I love tennis, and refuse to believe anyone is doping until I'm told otherwise.

Can we PLEASE stop going on about Djokovic's 2011 season!? Come one people he went gluten-free, hello? There are probably loads of medical reports that gluten-free diets boost performance by about 100%.

The whole gluten-free thing is more religion then science in most instances. Novak clearly did not have celiac sprue (the disease where your small intestine is sensitized to glutens) suddenly develop in his mid 20's as an elite athlete. The more plausible explanation is that he was more experienced and started paying more attention to his training and diet such that his marginal game improvement was enough to be the difference between #3 and #1.

The gluten issue probably just plays into his psychological preparation to compete at that level. But hey, whatever works!

I don't really care if any one of them uses PED. It would not change my opinion of them because they are all great athletes and I'm sure that no matter what kind of substance they might be using it hasn't miraculously turned them into super humans. There is still hard work behind it all.

The rules in place against certain substances are an arbitrary system. What might be banned today, could easily be allowed tomorrow. So who is to decide what is wrong, bad, good etc.? All it takes is a change in perspective.

I would allow it. Demonizing certain substances only results in pointlessly judging great athletes who most likely would've stood apart from their peers anyway, with or without PED.

But what about players who's primary weapon is fitness like Nadal and Djokovic? You could then rationalize that Rafa and Novak never beat Roger.

From the top of my head. Federer, del Potro, Tsonga, Youzhny, Kohlschreiber, Tomic, Gasquet, Simon.

You would have a tough convincing Fed doesn't dope. (Dude never gets any major injuries, when he does get injured hes back to 100 percent in minutes it seems).

Nole-Doping his lungs out.. This guy reminds me of Lance in his prime. Machine who never gets tired. Freakin energizer bunny. . That aint normal. Especially when you consider how **** poor his fitness was just a few years ago. How did he turn into Superman over night?

Nadal-Favorite player.. But Im a realist here. Doper to the max. (Physically impossible to do what he did at the AO in 2009 without some extra boost much like Nole did last year at the AO from the SF to the F)

Murray-Probably

I doubt Tsonga and Del Potro would be doping

I have to wonder about Serena after she goes and locks herself in her room to avoid testing, citing it was a "burglar" ROFLMAO

I mean there are "studs" in pro sports. But this chick has some freakish strength.

yes the 'panic room incident..was a giveaway..also isnt a missed test supposed to be like a failed test ??, i dont remember the wta doing anything at all about it....

in football..rio ferdinand (manchester utd)..missed the testers and dissappeared from view for a bit (mobile off for hours) long enough to see a doctor for masking agents, and he got an 8month ban (couldve been 2yrs)..as a miss is like a failed test.

then in the atp..we got the laughable richard gasquet and the toxic kiss in the nightclub,

with a woman whos face is made up completely of drugs..:shock::confused:

If anyone here actually watched Oprah's interview with Armstrong they would have heard Lance say that the riders (him included) knew when to dope so that it would be out of their system before they were tested. Since testing in tennis is even more predictable -usually players are tested after they lose a match in a GS or win the tournament - then I would say doping is very plausible. And players are allowed to miss 2 OOC tests in 18 months before they are penalised. That means if they aren't clean when the tester comes a knocking they can just hide in their panic room. Don't be naive folks.

That makes sense.. I dont buy the fact these pro players don't know when they are getting tested. I'm sure there are some stooges around that will give up the testing dates. Get tested and get some EPO in your system right afterwards. Its been going on for years in all sports. You'd have to be a complete naive moron to think otherwise

I love how Naive people are in America too. They are so heartbroken and amazed Lance could possibly have been doping.. You dont win that many Tour De France titles without some boost. IMPOSSIBLE. They should have been looking to slam him years ago during the fact.. Not 10 years after the fact

Yes to all of this. Players micro does EPO all the time so that they get the full benefit of it while clearing the sytem quickly. The testing in tennis is so easy to get around that they may as well not test at all. Cvac has not had a blood test from WADA for 7 whole months, yet he is someone they should be watching like a hawk and testing like crazy due to his very suspicious increase in performance. He is also against the biological passport which would make it harder for him to blood dope.

Exactly.. Nole is out there playing 6 hour grind fests like its a 30 minute hit around. They need to be catching these guys right then and there.. Not for this stuff to leak out 20 years after the fact. Those testers should be standing right in the back as Nole comes through the curtain ready to show after the match with their little **** cup in hand.

Where does common sense enter into all this? Theres too many of these guys on stuff today in all sports.. They need to get rid of it and hand out extremely harsh consequences for it..

I think that would be pathetic. Taking away someone's titles ages after they've won them is just stupid, imo. If they didn't get caught back then, they shouldn't suffer the consequences now. The authorities should do a better job if they insist on these anti-doping rules. Same with Lance Armstrong. He's been stripped all of his titles and what happens if the guy who inherits them now is found out to be a doper too, say, five years from now? Are they going to continue with the circus forever?

All this doping scandals reveal is that the authorities are doing a pretty bad job, whether it was intentional or due to negligence. Nobody ever talks about that.

What kind of logic is that? Can murderers go free just because they got convicted 10 years later? I don't think anyone's doping but that logic is weird.

Totally agree. Any players with any suspicious performances or increases in stamina should immediately be tested both blood and urine. Right then and there after the match no questions asked.

Lance Armstrong and others on the US Postal cycling team would regularly fly to Spain to receive doping because the Spanish doctors are the world experts at doping. It would be hard to believe that Spanish players like Ferrer and Nadal, who can seemingly run forever, are not also "treated" by Spanish doctors.

I say YES to all PED's in professional sports. Come on, guys - we are the spectators. It only benefits us if we get 400lbs, 5 % bodyfat steroided freaks crashing into each other at 40mph each way in the NFL.

Or tennis players serving at 170mph, average. Or boxers beoming so powerful they literally smash each others' brains out.

We are not participating - we are watching. And PEDs can only make things more extreme, more brutal, more exciting. Fvck the long-term health of the athletes - that ain't my concern - and it's not yours either. I can't understand why spectators are so against this stuff.

It's not fair to those who are following the rules and not doping.

Also, doping isn't equal. The richest and most successful players would have access to the best doctor and doping programs, creating an even bigger gap.

17 slams stripped is going to hurt, not to mention that wilson and nike will want all the money back.

There ya go .. Sampras the last great champion of the non dopers:)

You can't tell me he was the on the same crap Lance was. ROFLMAO. Pete didn't have great endurance at all compared to these cyborgs we got out there today:)

More reasons why Sampras and Laver and Pancho are the ultimate GOATs. Dope free GOATs baby

Sampras, Nadal, and Safin are definitely clean. Djokovic Murray I hope they are clean and my heart tells me they are clean.

Simon and Monfils are either clean or need better doctors as they were completely exhausted half way through their match.

You keep saying that Nadal has 17 Slams when he actually only has 11 (unless you mean Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray COMBINED). Besides, Nadal is sponsored by Babolat, not Wilson. :???:

When, in your delusional universe, did I ever (let alone repeatedly) state that Nadal had 17 slams or was sponsored by Wilson? You are really sliding into the deep end these days, aren't you...

Not sure if this the complete list, but here is the list (from wiki) of tennis athletes involved in drugs (PED or RD)...
I was surprised with some of the names on this list
