who benches more, Serena or Fed?

Serena probably. I would bet on Serena all day in a physical fight against Federer too.

Fed probably benches 150. Serena could bench press Fed while he benches 150.

Pretty much.

..I still think Fed would easily benchpress more than her. Even slight guys are deceptively strong, and he's an athlete who uses his upper body....
You are correct - there is no way she could bench more than him. Males are just so much harder and stronger (per equivalent mass) than females. It's not a slur on her or females in-general at all, it's just how it is.

I remember reading about Federers max bench few years ago. Its 315 or 320 something like that.
He is naturally strong.
Pffft Serena has nothing on Federer.

You're talking to mostly a bunch of couch potatoes who've never stepped foot inside a gym. They have no clue what they're talking about. Bunch of silly Serena lovers going nuts over the size of her arms and shoulders.

i believe his squats were around 320, not his presses, if i remember correctly.

i guess this topic, concerning fed anyway, has been talked about in a previous thread. people were saying he was benching over 200, which seems realistic. he has a pretty broad chest.

you could also be thinking of agassi who was known to bench 350.

So you think Federer would actually hit a woman?

In the hypothetical would never happen event Serena started hitting him he had better, to protect his own life. I think she is strong enough to physically kill someone if she wanted to (not that she would as she is far too good hearted a person for that), including many men.

in the form of asphyxiation from tennis balls being placed gently in one's trachea.

ah ok...Thats the squats.
His bench was like 275. I remember it was not puny.
Totally when Agassi was juiced and pumped he was benching 350.
Awesome.

 She's not killing anyone. She's a tennis player, not a professional boxer.

people with african heritage, are naturally stronger and more athletic in my opinion. They run faster, further...are stronger.
Serena probably looks like she does due to her genes as well as specific strength training to have the edge in power . African woman are tended to be very strong and large boned (even her dad looks like he could be strong and big boned) - not trying to sound racist or anything...but this is often the case.

This thread should rather be:
who's stronger: Serena or Navratilova?

This is partially true but especially in the lower region of the body. Blacks(depending on the location in Africa where they come from) are the best in endurance events and speed events. But pure physical, upper body strength? I doubt it. Most strongmen/powelifting/weightlifting competitions I've seen have mostly caucasians(usually central-eastern european)/central asians but few black competitors, let alone winners.

People of african decent also seem don't seem to do good in swimming events due to their physiognomy.

I agree mostly...but in my country, which i'd prefer not mentioning, i have seen many african woman who would probably take out their men. In fact, it seems as if the men fear them at times.
You also need to take note which countries actually enter these tournaments - it being popular, will bring out those strong woman. (Finland/Denmark etc)
If these tournaments were popular in lets say Nigeria, trust me, those woman will often win.

Could be genetics but then Venus is very lanky/skinny whereas Serena is very bulky/muscle-bound. As teenagers, they looked more similar in build (but not height). For this reason, many suspect that Serena's testosterone levels are now rather high for a female -- might be natural; might not be.

or maybe strength and swimming sports are very expensive to train in. with running you need to just run......besides that, like everything else swimming has a very segregated and racist history.

How am I talking crap? I'm talking from experience since I do benchpress. When I was 22, my max benchpress was 150lbs. I then regularly trained in the benchpress 2 times per week and increased it to 175lbs in 3 months and up to 205lbs in 5 months. I maxed at 205lbs. I joined the gym in November 2005 and increased my benchpress to 260lbs by August 2006. My max benchpress was 280lbs in 2008 and then I began doing more cardio exercises.
So to think that I went from 150lbs to 280lbs by doing nothing more than basic gym weights and not following any kind of special diet or real training routine leads me to believe that somebody like Federer who is bigger than me could be doing the same or more if he dedicated his time to it. He's a world class athlete.
Serena is a woman. She has far less bone density and muscle mass. Keep things in perspective. Don't ever compare women to men when it comes to physical strength and power.

You don't, because Serena doesn't lift weights.

If Serena trained with weights she would be beast.

She trains, my friend. She lifts weights. Tennis players all now lift weights! ALL OF THEM! They have no choice! It's the sport nowadays. You have to be physically strong to compete today and fit. Sam Stosur especially lifts weights.

This thread is exposing ALL the couch potatoes who've never set foot in a gym. They have simply no idea what they're talking about. Silly Serena lovers talking out of their bottoms.
What's even funnier is how so many think Serena can compete on the men's tour. I wonder if Federer would've gotten spanked by little 5'4" Justine Henin at RG, Wimbledon and US Open, back to back to back like Serena did.
