Nike Courtbalistic 4.3

Just received a pair ordered off internet. Seems very tight in the toes. Exterior length is the same as my old 2k11s but something is very different on the inside of the shoe. Has anyone here had a pair of Courbalistics ? What was your observation on the size. Also, what is that extra layer of material on the side of the inside ?

It's very tight in the toebox and stiff at first, what I do is loosen the laces a lot and slide my hand all the way to the toe box and then make a fist. Helps spread the toebox a little wider and breaks in the shoe. After a few times of stretching the toebox put it on with the laces still loose and then adjust to a comfortable tightness for your feet.

If you have big calluses on your big toes(on part pointed towards inside of shoe) you might want to sand them down, because the first few hits with the shoes are going to be a little uncomfortable.

So, I assume from your description that once broken in they become wearable ?

I thought about returning them, but I am willing to break them in if they will come good. I just don't remember having this issue with the 2K11s when they were new.

Thanks for the reply.

Every stiff shoe needs some breaking in before you can play comfortably with them, Vapors and the GR's are comfortable out of the box so you can play them right away.

it takes about 3-4 times out to the court then they feel great :) best tennis shoe ive ever worn, except for the fact that every time i got em, after 2 months the lacing system would crap out on me. Other than that, they are awesome!

After the break in period the 4.3 loosen up quite a lot.
When i first received mine i changed them for the next 0.5 size up. After a few months wear i wish i hadnt, they change quite a bit after wear in. Become looser and much more comfortable.

Thanks. Got to be gentle with those laces I guess.

I resisted the temptation to send them back. I wore them for a while with laces undone and I think I'm already feeling a little less tightness in the toe area. I have a slight suspicion though that they may be a little hot. I guess I'll find out when I wear them on the court.

I am normally a size 9.5 in regular shoes but I ordered a size 10 CB 4.3. Will the shoe be too narrow or will I have to wear 2 pairs of socks for it to fit?

No problem with the CB4.3 except that they don't quite lock my foot in securely enough. It's bearable when hitting but when I'm really playing hard I don't feel safe changing direction hard. I wear two layers of socks and ankle braces and play competitively for a University. They last forever though, mine have white splotches all over (the outsole has been worn out thoroughly), yet there is still no sign of a hole. They last so long that eventually you'll start unintentionally slipping around the court because the tread is gone. I'm now on the Vapor 9s which last no where near as long but the secure fit allows me to move efficiently and slide when I want to.

Yeah, which is weird because this was just normal tightening to conform to my foot, wasnt anything ridiculous as my foot is already a bit on the wide side... I think theyll replace it tho if the lace holder breaks, they told me i could. Just need to send em in! :)

I found the the 4.3s to be extremely uncomfortable, and had to stop wearing them. Just didn't fit my feet well because of the narrow toe box and misfitting arch support. The laces are an entirely different issue. I migrated to the 4.3s after loving but thrashing the Vapors in less than 2 months. Too bad the 4.3s aren't nearly as comfortable as the Vapors. Back to the Barricades for me.

How long have you had the shoes before seeing if you could get them replaced?

Same to me. Especially in the back area. I don't know if it's with insole. Strangely though, I went a half size down from my vapor 9 size. I haven't played with them, but I'm trying to break them in at home and they don't seem to be very tight, to the extent that it's hurting my feet.
Regarding the stability issue, I never experienced that with my AO '12 4.3s, and I didn't size down. I thought they were the best shoes I ever had. I feel like the recent 4.3's run larger and less stable compared to the earliest colorways.
