Fastest shoe

Currently wearing Nike Courtballistics 4.3 and I like them, but feel very flat at times when playing. This is extremely apparent when running a dead sprint to the net for a short ball. I don't wear through my shoes very quick so a warranty is not needed. Also not too loyal to any one brand in particular. What shoe have you guys tried that helps enable the most speed and quickness? Thank you in advance for any input and advice.

Everyone loves the vapor 9's in this forum. Lighter, but less durable. More roomy in the toes, but overall similar fit to the 4.3s.

Just recently did the cb to v9 switch. Loving the fast feel of the v9s, but if you really want to use cb's i recommend doing some speed training as they are a bit clunky. Hill work will be just fine

Pure speed shoes: new balance 851 and Vapor 9s.

851 the lightest, fastest kicks I've ever played in. 9s are close and they're a bit more stable. Both shoes wear out insanely fast.

Stockup on the Vapor 8 and 9 at the Nike Outlet for under $60.
Call and order with Style Code V9 488000 and V8(Lookup Online). You should test them out before stocking up.

Hahahaha. I don't think the local clubs would like me too much with those...

So the Vapors seem to be the favorite. I'm also interested in the Asics Speeds. Has anyone here tried the Adidas feathers?

I forgot about the feathers, but they are another good option. Note: Only get the feather 2, which imo has a larger toe-box and is more flexible.

Right now I am playing around with lighter speed oriented shoes and have found the Adizero Feather IIs and Asics Speed Solutions to be my favorites.

I had mixed feelings with solution speeds... They were extremely comfortable out of the box, required no break in, and really light and fast on the court. However the outsoles are extremely slippery... Even when the tread is still 100% in tact. Also after I would play my feet would be really sore... Durability was not great either. After about 3 weeks of extensive use (probably around 50 hrs) I had to ditch them. Not because of holes... But the toe was completely bare and I was slipping everywhere.

As for the feather 2s, they're similar to the V9. For me durability was a bit better, but not as comfortable as V9.

I'd take V9 over either of them...

If you looking for the fastest shoes, Speed Solutions are it. They are as light as a pair of running shoes but if you consider stability and comfort, the Vapor 9s take the cake. The Adidas are somewhere in between the two shoes.

I agree they are the fastest, but did you have any of the problems I had?

Yeah, they are not as stable, roomy, or plush compared to the Vapor 9s and I did experience a sore foot as they felt a lot stiffer than the Vapor 9s. IMO, Vapor 9s are the GSOAT if durability isn't factored in, don't play enough to care about durability, or if you got the money.

It's just the most comfortable, stable, and plush tennis shoe I have ever worn since the Vapor 6s. I can be on the courts for three hours and my feet don't get as sore or tired. I hope they don't screw it up next year when the Vapor 10s comes out with that Lunar material.

Thanks for the input. Also, you suggested awhile ago that I try out Black Widow as its a solid poly. I currently have a full bed at 52 lbs in my Rad an I think I have found my new string of choice. Very solid advice!

I agree about the 851's being super fast! But outsole durability isn't all that bad and traction is top notch! Toe durability is pretty bad though, and stability is comfortable and not overdone.

Great things about the 851s is you'd get two pairs for the price of one with the warranty) and they're awesome speed shoes. And look fantastic. (White/blue). Had hoped to get another pair when they were on closeout sale but they didn't have my wide size.

Love the Vapor 9s, though. Everything Parasailing said above I agree with. Just an awesome tennis shoe if you can accept the non durability.

Also still love the Asics GR4 but as a practice shoe since they're so plush but I don't feel as quick on my feet with that first step. V9s and 851s are noticeably better in that regard.

I consider 50 hours to be great durability and especially impressive from a speed shoe like the Solution. I get that from B7s and have found them to be the toughest shoes I've worn. It's funny how individual playing style impacts shoe longevity so much.

That said, I'm lucky in that I seldom notice if a tennis shoe is "heavy". In fact, the only time it's ever crossed my mind is when I first slipped on a pair of CB3.3s. Other than that, Barricades, 4.3s et al all feel plenty fast.

I'm going to assume that fast shoe means light shoe. The king of light shoes at the moment is the Adidas Feather 2. So that would be my first choice if I want something which helps me feel fast on my feet.

I will also echo the 851s. These are fast light shoes. I bought a couple of pairs when they were $49 each and wish I bought more. One set has already been warrantied. The one year durability guarantee is fantastic.

However, TW no longer stocks them as they have been replaced with a new model (996)?

I replaced with Yonex 308s and although they are heavier, they are super comfortable.

Later in the tournament (Delray) us ballkids were issued 996's. I didn't mind them but I gave them to my dad after the tournament. I didn't notice anything special as far as speed goes, but they weren't clunky. I didn't find the traction to be really good, but not too bad, disappointing on a freshly resurfaced slow hard court.
