I'm just curious if anyone knows Fed's tensions from back when he was using all gut and back when he was using the Prostaff 85?

Looks about right, though I'm surprised he changed a total of 5lbs from his beginning tension.

Some lines are missing the tension.

Wilson's Gut is stiffer than the old Babolat VS. And Luxilon ALU is know for being hard on the joints at high tensions, so you have to accommodate both strings. Moreover, his racquet is also very stable, don't need to string at high tensions either. Doubt he needs to take the risk to get easily avoidable injuries for the sake to play with a board instead of a stringbed.

Was roger really using all poly back in 2003? It's hard to find good quality photos from then.

I don't know, but would also like to know, it does say full poly in the list above. But surely it can't be right, Federer even for a few tournaments wouldn't have gone to full poly would he?

Sure he would! The talk of the town is all about Luxilons so he's going to try it out. Of course he loves it. After some more experience, he wonders what it'd be like to hybrid his new fav with his old fav. Presta!

Just what I have allways thought, or felt. That Federer at one point (2006 it seems) went down in tension, making his play a bit less all-out hitting like, for lack of better words....

I must say though Roger used to blast the ball when had all natural gut. Watching his match with Sampras in 01, Haas at the AO in 02, Agassi at Houston in 03. What do you think would have happened if he stuck with gut? Obviously the game changed and he changed with it, but would it have been a viable option for him?

His body has more to do with what he uses right now. He's over 30, with more than 10 years of pro tennis, and even more of tennis, short (started around 9 or something). Wear and tear is starting to come. At some point, he can't move his arm as fast as before to generate the spin, so he needs a little help from the string. So yeah, he may gain power from gut, but it doesn't mean it would help his game overall.

But that was mainly in a 85", and at about 25-26 kgs.

But he actually lowered the tension when he was about 25.
