It's becoming predictable how they trot this tired saga out every generation or so. I'll pass.

I dont think there is a trilogy behind. Maybe I'm wrong, but didnt sneider say that it will be one monumental shot at the saga?
Also, it's pure entertainment here!

I saw LexCorp in the trailer, and that means Lex is the villain in the 2nd or 3rd film of this trilogy. Cavill is going to be a megastar, he's playing Superman in 6 films - MOS trilogy and Justice League trilogy. Warner Bros announced a month ago that they've already ordered a script for MOS2.

Personally I liked Superman Returns and thought they could have done a badass more action packed sequel. It gets annoying always having to start from the intro story again and again for the same characters. Nonetheless I'm excited about this and already ready for the sequel to not be in the intro phase.

Superman: The Man of Steel

TMS started just a few years after the incidents that we saw in Superman Returns. Kal-El is doing what Superman does best, Lois Lane is raising her kid Jason, who of course is Superman’s child and the world is getting use to having Superman back.

Now there are storyline threads that go back to Superman Returns, one is the on going plot of Superman’s original reason of going back to Krypton. He has always wondered if he truly is the last Son of Krypton.

Remember new Krypton that Lex created with crystals he stole from the Fortress of Solitude and Kryptonite that Supes launched into to space that nearly killed him?

So new Krypton continues to grow in space and has become an almost perfect sphere. It is now the size of a small moon.

Besides giving Humans something to admire at night, Earth new satellite has also brought some unexpected attention from a galaxy far, far away.

A massive spaceship arrives Earth’s orbit, Superman flys up to meet the spacecraft and we are introduced to our out of this world visitor.

Superman quickly finds out that our visitor is also a Kryptonian survivor who has been traveling the known galaxies and was able to detect Kryptonian technology thanks to our new green/black satellite that has started to orbit the Earth.

Superman finally has found a Kryptonian buddy and starts showing him around the planet, a planet full of problems, disease, famine, crime and nations at war with each other.

Our new Kryptonian friend asks Superman why, with all his power, is he not changing the world for the better. Why is he not getting rid of famine, disease and war? Of course fans know that Superman has always been told, or better said instructed, not to interfere with Earth’s development.

Superman explains that he is not allowed to interfere but his Krypto buddy tells him that with their powers they are required to “interfere,” Superman disagrees.

Krypto buddy decides to take charge and starts “interfering” from day one. One of the first things that he does is get involved in a political mess that is heating up between two third world nations.

War breaks out between these two nations but before any real battle breaks our Krypto buddy interferes and lays waste to these two Armies.

He declares to the world that he will not allow anymore wars and/or the destruction of our planet. He is declaring a “War Free” planet and for those who disagree he will have to deal with them.

The major nations of the planet applaud his actions and all agree to an immediate worldwide peace. In return he promises to share technology, fight hunger, famine and disease.

The population of the world rejoices and any small pockets of resistance is quickly squashed by Krypto buddy or even the world governments.

Superman has now become a pariah, the way the world sees it, he has been here for years and had kept technology that could have saved many of the worlds problems.

Superman starts getting a bit suspicious of Krypto buddy and decides to go talk to him. He goes to his spaceship and has a revelation. This massive ship is full of hundreds if not thousands of identical bodies aboard, yep, clones of Krypto buddy, in stasis.

So Superman digs a bit more inside the “computer” system, which is familiar to him since it’s Kryptonian technology just like the Fortress of Solitude.

Superman finds out that Krypto buddy is actually an artificial intelligence from Krypton that has evolved since the destruction of their world.

He escaped Krypton just like Kal-El did and his real name is Brainiac. He has been going from planet to planet, taking their technology, helping these worlds reach a relative perfection and then he destroys them and moves on.

Superman also finds out that he was actually responsible for the destruction of Krypton and tries to warn the leaders of the world but is confronted by Braniac. A massive battle ensues and Superman is about to defeat his foe but right just before Brainiac downloads his conscience into one oh his other clones.

Superman realizes that he must destroy this massive ship along with all the clones aboard. After another massive battle he is able to disable the ship, destroy the clones and the new Braniac but right before the ship is destroyed the Braniac main frame does a local search for another body that he could download in to, it has to be Kryptonian, and he finds another one on Earth, Superman’s kid
Jason White.

So Brainiac uses Kryptonian technology and beams/download itself into Jason’s body and this causes causes him to age and grow into a full adult but with Brainiac in complete control.

Superman realizes what just happened and rushes to confront his very own son who is now possessed by Brainiac.

Is Jason still there or is it all Brainiac? It’s all Braniac and Superman knows what he has to do, he must defeat Brainiac at all costs or the planet and it’s inhabitants will be doomed.

It’s a battle between two gods but Superman has already been run ragged and beat down pretty bad in his previous battles of the day. Brainiac has the upper hand and Superman is trying to not to do any permanent damage to Jason’s body.

Every time Brainiac is defeated in the past he simply tries to download to another clone and leaves that body completely brain dead but with no other bodies left, will Jason survive? The answer in no.

There is a Christ like metaphor here. Superman has to sacrifice his own son to save humanity.

This really is the Moses story in the Old Testament updated, no?

I'm surprised they got rid of Brandon Routh and got another guy who doesn't really look like a superman. Oh well, Superman Returns was good considering the plot line was average although better than Superman 3 and 4, especially 4, I think Gene Hackman was probably had a gun to his head if he didn't star in the film. Still, no superman, or even super hero film will touch Superman 1 or 2 again.

I wish they'd finally make a film with superman kicking his feet like Michael Phelps when he flies. SOME mechanism of propulsion, so it's BELIEVABLE!!!!! Otherwise, I just can't buy the premise.

Superman's body is not human (it only looks human). We have no idea what makes his body fly, because its beyond a human body and therefore his powers are supposed to be beyond human comprehension. I don't think mechanism of propulsion is relevant to an alien life form.

I wish they can address the physical science in superman's body in the movie or something...

It would be an interesting scene if they had a team of scientists try to 'study' superman or something.

^^ Absolutely. "Man of Steel" may have more pragmatic meaning than we realize.

Absolutely. I'm not saying this 'reboot' or whatever is a typical horrible re-telling of a movie, but the director as a chance of redeeming the franchise from the travesty Superman Returns.

The only thing we know what makes Kal-El 'Superman' is that the sun located in the 'Sol' system amplifies his powers dramatically. That's it.

Why are you saying Man Of Steel (2013) is "typical"? We know absolutely nothing about the story. Why judge with no knowledge? Actually there is one thing the director Snyder has told us, and that is there is no Kryptonite in MOS.

I didn't say that Man of Steel was a typical remake. You must have confused yourself with my post.

The reason why there is no Kryptonite in Man of Steel is because the main antagonist is General Zod who is also a Kryptonian.

Therefore, it would not make any logical sense to introduce the element in the story unless if it was another character that wanted to 'rid' the world of metahumans.

The story has been under lock and key, very little has been spilled. But I did read a tweet by Michael Shannon (Zod). He says Russell Crowe (Jor-El) beat him up badly during filming. And I also heard a rumor that Jor-El and Zod fight, so probably is true. Zod vs Jor-El early in the film, and Zod vs Kal-El later. I also heard a rumor that Kal-El saves Lois before he becomes Superman, and that Lois therefore knows that Clark is Superman. She probably comes up with the idea of the double-identity for him. I also have seen a picture from the filming, and it shows a gravestone. I won't say who is on the gravestone, because it will spoil it for you all. But I heard that Zod killed that person.

Yes that goes without saying, I think they will give the honor of discovering Kryptonite to Lex in the 2nd or 3rd film. He'll need it.

We had all better consider a "plan B"....only another 5 billion years or so until our own sun explodes.

Did they even address if Superman can even age?

Kryptonians are not immortal. Superman isn't a special case either.

However, in the future storyline in the comics, he is basically a god and can create universes with his mind.

So basically, they are rebooting the franchise like Christopher Nolan did to the batman movies that were nearly destroyed by Joel Schumacher.

Well only about 1% of the world reads comics. They are almost irrelevant to Man Of Steel (2013).

Okay, is Ursa and Non in the movie? Because the three of them were supposedly sent to the Phantom Zone for their crimes with several other Kryptonians and a Daxamite I believe.

Unfortunately, that is true.

For some reason, there is a negative stigma attached to comics stereotyping people as 'losers, nerds, geeks, etc.'.

I'm not a Superman afficionado, but I don't remember if they ever addressed in the movies. I hope they do in Man of Steel.

Snyder already said his universe has nothing to do with the Donner universe, and that the Kryptonians are named Zod and Faora. Snyder said to disregard anything you saw in the Donner/Lester/Singer films.

Okay, so this is completely a reboot then. An invasion? Interesting.

Faora? I remember her. In the Pre-Crisis storyline, she was sent to the Phantom Zone for 300 years for killing 23 men in a concentration camp because she has a deep hatred for men like Circe in the Wonder Woman comics.

Wait, why would she align with Zod?

I've been told a lot of this film is set on Krypton, so that will be explained.

It is fantasy; there is no "believable" mechanism for how the Hulk survives falling from airplane height, for a hammer swing leading to guided flight, how a spider's DNA can ever mix with that of a human (and gain spider powers, yet look fully human), or anything else. That "believable" crap is how Marvel used to try to sell how "real" they were (compared to DC Comics), when the more they tried to apply an explanation based in science, the more laughable the end result.

It is a superhero film, not an episiode of NOVA.

Wait, it's set on Krypton? Will they even go to Earth? They said in the link that you provided me is that Earth would be invaded.

That appears to not make any sense. If they are on Krypton, then they are powerless because of the red sun.

I hope they don't do a sequence of invading Earth and wrap everything up in less than 25 minutes like they did in Spiderman 3...

Most of the film is on Earth but don't be surprised if 20-30 minutes is on Krypton at the beginning (and the film's running time is 148 minutes). That's what I've been told. This is like a biopic that explains everything, and that includes Jor-El and Zod and the history of why Zod cares about Kal-El. Remember the first Superman film began on Krypton. So will Man Of Steel, and this will be a lot more detailed about the relationship between Jor-El and Zod and there will be a lot of action on Krypton. Just because they don't have 'powers' on Krypton it doesn't mean they won't be killing each other. Man Of Steel will be all about action, because Warner Bros ordered this reboot because Superman Returns didn't have enough action. And Snyder's Man Of Steel has no relationship with the Donner universe. Krypton is at war when Kal-El is sent to Earth, and Zod's eventual threat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QkfmqsDTgY will be based on the war between Jor-El and Zod. It won't be a simple case of the Phantom Zone. You can see the Superman symbol in Zod's video-
moswebsite-viral-trailer3_zpsf46cb62a.jpg

and you can also make out Zod wearing a mask-
