It seems that his racquet is stringed with only one piece of string despite Babolat recommending it to be done with two. Is that alright or am I missing something?

He's only had RPM blast the last few years afaik. Don't think Bab is recommending one or the other really.

Babolat does recommend two piece but allow one piece. But more importantly if the player does not specify the pattern the stringing room will string all rackets with a specific pattern and that is more often than not one piece if only one string is used.

Irvin, in this case would they use around the world or would they just keep it simple and string crosses bottom-up?

Depends on the tournament/team policy. IIRC Nadal's personal preference is bottom up -- I could be mis-remembering this one, though. That was back in the day when he played duralast.

His 'personal stringer' will strung his rqts 2 piece, and it's something we've followed at Wimbledon once we learned this information. As for other tournaments, as Irvin has said, unless specified the stringer/team will do it their way. This maybe 1 or 2 piece.

Paul, have you heard anything about a bottom up preference? I recall reading something unusual about Nadal's setup, and I could have sworn it was being strung bottom up. I don't recall whether or not it was one/two piece... Thanks for the inside confirmation.

^^^I think I've heard that before, but Nadal isn't actually that fussy as long as it hits right. Chances are it would have been 1 piece.

Nadal his rackets are strung 2-piece and head to bottom on official tournaments (strung by Xavi Segura)
I saw him stringing live at the scene, he was stringing Rafa's racket.
