Anyone have a "go to" stick that defies Logic?

The scenario is whenever I'm feeling "burnt out" and every "modern" stick (well modern for me...Radical TT MP, HPS 6.1 95, a leaded up Microgel Extreme Pro) starts to feel like a powerless board....I whip out a Head Graphite Pro and feel like I can actually hit a damn tennis ball once again?

Is it placebo effect? How the hell can a 89.5 sq inch heavy frame suddenly feel like the most maneuverable and effective weapon I have?

Then I go back to my "modern" sticks, and they feel good again, and so I'm "cured". It's like I have to "kick it old school" to get my mojo back!

Most of the time if I'm playing a heavy hitter it would be suicide to use this stick, so I realize it's limitations, but then again their are times it's all I can effectively wield!

Weird...may be all mental...but this old guy always has a home in my bag!

Anyone else have an "ol faithful"?

when things go awry playing lazyman's big heads,
I go back to a soft plushy mid to "reset" my swing.

same with golf too, Big Berthas cause laziness.
Every so often gotta go back to small head to reset the feeling,
I keep a tiny Yonex driver (Jumbo Ozaki era) around for that purpose.

I just started playing with it a couple of weeks ago, but the Wilson Graphite Matrix will always stay in my bag. I'm considering tracking two more down and making it my permanent stick

I always find a great way to get the blast back in my strokes is to play a wood racket. After switching back, its like hitting on steroids.

Head P Pro 600 - too gorgeous, a flex that is alive, loves natty gut... instills confidence

My Graphite Pro is basically your Prestige's Dad! Also nice and flexy and also loves gut...but this cheapskate currently has a decent syn gut on it!

Ballsy move...I love the old sticks, but against the youngsters that, thankfully, I can still "hang" with I need a little faster moving "modern" stick. I can beat 80% of others with the Old Dude though!

Thanks for sharing this. It is really comforting to hear that i am not the only one. I play with the Pro special Edition or the Graphite pro. After an hour they just get to heavy for my arm so i have to turn to a customized Youtek Prestige MP (355 gram strung plus overgrip). Recently i "discovered" how wel a standard Prestige Tour 660 plays. Little more comfortable than a 600, but still that solid flexibel feel to it :)

I'll have to keep an eye out on the "bay"...I hear more and more good things about that stick. I have a Head Twin Tube Pure Competition that is a 102" but it is very flexy but fun...Prestige Tour may be a hair stiffer and more precise.

I am 24 and play with mids anyways, so it's not really a big switch. I just like the 16x19 pattern more than my current 18x20. My 1hbh really came alive with that stick! I like to think that I have a pretty devastating forehand, and with the matrix my backhand felt just as lethal

You're 24...that explains it all! At 24 I could play with baseball bat and rally deep! When you turn 44 and are still hanging in there with 24 year old's (which you will be since you're a cool enough kid to appreciate older sticks, and obviously don't get caught up in trendy sticks) then you may need to pop up to a Midplus!
