Boredsurfer,

There is no official launch date yet but they are expected around mid November.

Thanks Brittany - this one is probably on your demo list too right? I hope they bring back a little feel of the original Ezone in there somewhere..... Also would love to know if there will be new 9/12/15-packs too.

Boredsurfer,

I am definitely will be first in line to try out the new EZONEs as I am currently searching for a new racquet now that the VCORE 100 S is phased out. I will let you know my thoughts as soon as I get my hands on one! As far as bags are concerned, I am checking with our buyer.

The new Ezone AI's have been on Yonex's website for quite a while now. It's weird that there's no news on the release date.

We have an official launch date for the Yonex EZONE Ai raquets, 11/11/13!

Brittany, TW

Nice. Thanks for the update, probably be getting one of these, even though I miss the all black look of past E-Zones (unfortunately this one looks like Nadal's racquet from the side).

XFactorer,

We just got our samples and they are currently in imaging. I am counting the days until I get them back and strung up.

Great news Britt. I am very interested in the 100 when u get a chance. I would love to know what the specs on the stiffness are? Hope they went down from the stiff 70 of the VCore Xi 100.

JackB1,

We measured the stiffness as 68 on our racquet sample of the EZONE Ai 100.

Brittany, TW

Thanks for that. Well I guess that's better than 70 :)

cant wait to hear how it performs. Are u still using the VCore 100S as your main racquet?

JackB1,

Yes, I am! However, I only have one racquet left so I am currently searching for a new racquet. You never know, this might be it!

I'm excited for you and with you!

Do you happen to have the flex rating for the Ai 98? I'm looking to replace my Xi 98.

Thanks in advance!

XFactorer,

We measured the stiffness as 63 on our racquet sample of the EZONE Ai 98.

you not playing wit the 89 any more? such opposite ends of the spectrum.

Hehe... I play with Both depending on my mood. Usually in the winter, I tend towards a more forgiving EZONE. I find the EZONES to feel better in super cold weather.

63! I am so excited. It's not 58 like the RDXs, but I'll settle. Can't wait.

Any initial thoughts, Brittany? Have you had a chance to hit with it? Any of the other play testers able to compare it to the current generation of racquets?

I refreshed and refreshed this morning. I may have been impatient. I even called to get one over-nighted, but I guess you guys didn't have stock in yet. Boo.

I'll patiently wait and drool over the pics.

By the way, any reason why Yonex is mum on the whole "Ai" acronym? I understand it means "Air Impulse," but it doesn't seem to be widely marketed in the US like the "Xi" was. And TW doesn't have a pic of the throat where it says that, either.

Xfactorer,

We are still waiting for them to come in to stock as they are scheduled to arrive today. However, they might be pushed back a couple days. I am checking with our hard goods buyer and hopefully will have an update soon from Yonex. And I have no idea why Yonex isn't talking about Ai as muchas Xi.

You can see it, well most of it, on one of the pics. I'm thinking its because the Japanese love acronym-laden tech more than any other nation and therefore they've probably just lost track or ran out of space where to waffle about it's negligible effects.

Looking forward to buying one of these sticks, could be my new go-to.

JackB1,

Unfortunately, Yonex just got us these racquets and we already have a packed playtesting schedule. The reviews will be up around mid-end January. However, we will be hitting with these racquets starting the end of this week so we can answer any questions.

OK thanks.

I feel so bad for you guys with your "packed playtesting schedule" :)

interested in your thoughts on the 100, but I hope they aren't good since I just bought 2 new G Rad MPs from you :)

It seems as if they made a big effort to make these comfortable. TW testers: your thoughts? I know Andy and Brittany are YY fans

Thanks for the link! I cannot decide on which one and might end up waiting to see the play test reviews. Much appreciated!

Release date no 11/20. Hmmm....Gives me more time to figure out if I want to pull the trigger without seeing reviews. that Zi 98 is calling me.

Never a good idea to buy without demoing yourself. Unless you don't mind returning it and losing 30% of the price. You never know if you will like something until you try it. You can't really go by other reviews or what you are picturing it to be like.

Hey, Brittany, how do the Ai 98 racquets' head shape compare to the Xi 98s? The Xi 98 seems to have a drastically wider shape than most Yonex racquets of similar sizes because of the "extra isometric" technology.

XFaxtorer,

I got to briefly hit with the racquets yesterday (and will hit more today!) and I loved both the 98 and 100. They both have the Yonex feel that I enjoy. The Ai 100 is very maneuverable with lots of power and exactly in my spec range. I was surprised with how much I also liked the Ai 98. It is a little heavier (11.5 ounces) but was really stable and added just a little bit more control.

I wasn't a fan of the Extra Isometric shape of the previous version as I didn't like the feel of the sweetspot being closer to the top of the frame. The Ai version is much more similar to the VCORE 100S which is my racquet of choice.

Both racquets had syn gut strung in them, so I want to re-string them with poly for next week. I will let you know how that goes!

Awesome! Can't wait to upgrade my Xi 98!

Related question: if I chose overnight shipping, could my Ai 98 be shipped on the 19th so I get it on launch day (the 20th)?

XFactorer,

Unfortunately, we actually are expecting to receive the racquets at our warehouse on 11/20 so we are not able to ship it out any earlier than that.

Argh! I take it no one will line up at midnight for the release of these racquets, then? :)

Ok. I'll settle. I don't plan on playing until Thursday night anyway.

Hi! What polys are you planning to use? Full set or hybrid? I am planning on using Kircshbaum Helix or Pacific XCite at 50.

Boricua,

I will probably do a full set of poly. I'm thinking the 100 with Volkl Cyclone and the 98 with some new prototype poly string we are testing.

Weiss Cannon Black5Edge is pretty good also. I will use it in the 100 and also Helix. Will not use Xcite, too expensive
